Just got this from the IPT. Wonder who autograhped the balls.... KT?

Steve and Barry's to Host IPT Special Event

The International Pool Tour is hosting exhibitions and interactive games at the grand opening of two new Steve & Barry’s University Sportswear stores in the greater Chicago area. Learn from or challenge IPT Pro and Chicago native, Ike Runnels. Play games and play our trivia game to win IPT and Steve & Barry’s prizes like T-shirts, DVDs and mugs. Grand Prizes include a duffel bag full of IPT goodies and a set of autographed IPT certified Aramith balls!

Dammit, it is so freakin' stupid that the player pay situation has to drag on like this. I'm surprised they found someone willing to play in this exhibition. I will definitely have to go check this out tomorrow. I'll report back, maybe take a few pictures with a digital camera.

If the players were all paid after Reno, and everything was normal, I would say these exhibitions are an idea worth trying and I would be supportive. Right now it just seems phony.

I'm very curious as to who is going to be taking part in this exhibition?? I wouldn't think that it's a "union" member. Whoever it is, they have no backbone... Bet it's MS.

As for the telecast of the tournament....

It would be great to buy some commercial time during this event where there's a group of IPT players standing together as a group/union looking into the camera while an announcer informs the viewing audience that not only did all the people they're looking at play in the event that they're currently watching on tv but that none of them have been paid. During the programming, the IPT might be touting how much money the players won for that event but the truth of the matter is that NONE of them received a check... not even the winner.

I guess it's Ike Runnels. I'll definitely pose a couple questions to him about things, if he shows up.

At best, this exhibition thing seems like a worthwhile test marketing idea. At worst, it's a phony, low budget, pretend-everything-is-okay exhibition.

Apparently, the mere suggestion of this kind of scene has caused Steve & Barry's to cancel their entire relationship with the IPT. It doesn't look like there will be any exhibitions this weekend after all.

Yeah, I just found out myself. It would have been the trifecta of activities. I was hoping to get a little AZ drama, maybe a game of pool, and my girlfriend could have gone shoe shopping all at once! :D

Cancelled ah maybe postponed

Poor Ike, this was a nice thing for him! Oh well, that's what happens when corporate america finds out who they are dealing with...

As I stated in my other post:

The IPT is now box office poison. I suspect that they will find these cancellations happening on a regular basis until either the players get paid or the IPT just goes away!

Either way, all of their creditability is gone and the train has left the station.

If I were an IPT employee, I wouldn't count on Santa this year. I doubt very seriously if there will be, or ever has been any HO HO HO
 
BTW BOTH of the openings at Steve and Barry's were cancelled, not just the one tomorrow.

As per Deno, maybe postponed, NOT Cancelled! lol

I wonder IF they will have one of their long winded "press releases" on WHY this happened? I bet they will blame it on a scheduling glitch of some kind, or just blame Steve and Barry's...

As far as the 'who?' exhibition question goes it fairly clearly says that it was to be Ike Runnels.

As far as the other suggestion goes,the general sentiments are fine and are of course shared by most of us but you may be slightly misdirecting the criticism in this case.IPT have been responsible for enough actual screw ups and proven skulduggery without having to invent things that didn't actually happen.The event mentioned in the ad e-mail referred to by the original poster (or the one viewers would be 'currently watching' as you put it) is The NA Open and isn't the 'truth of the matter' in fact that all the players WERE paid in full for that event?

Mistakes on my part because I skimmed the email. Thanks for correcting me. :)
 
The one who really looses out again on this is Ike Runnels. I feel badly for him that he was set up to do this exhibition, and then they cancel it on him. He's a real sweet guy, and truly believes in the IPT. I hate to see them do this to him...
 
I sincerely hope that it's not one of us that has apprised Steve and Barry's of the IPT's situtation. The reason I say this is because to date the IPT has promised to pay the players and promised to hold a 2007 season and blah blah blah..... and we all pretty much know how we feel about those promises but our feelings are not enough reason to knock the IPT out of deals that could work towards getting the players paid. Not saying this thing was on that or not but it doesn't matter.

We should not be engaging in restraint of trade here. Let's not give the IPT any more ammunition either legally or rhetorically to further delay paying.

Lets engage in whatever positive activities we can to get the players organized and paid. The IPT is down right now, kicking it in the financial nuts isn't helping. Stopping the IPT from doing things to raise awareness of the IPT among the general public by negative campaigning is counterproductive. Legally stopping the IPT from spending money on those things through an injunction pursuant to a lawsuit on behalf of the player's group is productive.

From the tone of the original post it reads as though someone "dropped a dime" on the IPT to Steve and Barry's. Which is why I make this statement. Hopefully it's not the case, although the IPT definitely deserves it and is only reaping what they sow.

I'm so confused..........
