Beautiful Cog, Joe is a true artist. I have the 6 point logo cue and love the way it feels. Good luck with it. :D

joe didn't design this this cue "spire". i did (tim lilek of josey custom cues). and a little history on this cue because it was mine and was made for me. this cue is the first cue joe ever made with something, other than a silver line or dot, inlayed into ivory (the malachite). he was working on another cue at the same time for a cutomer that wanted malachite clover leaves in the cue and joe decided to load his "fancy" point with some malachite too. both cues were made at the same time but my cue was started and finnished first. but you are right about joe he's a great cuemaker and good freind! someday i hope the cue finds it's way back to me. enjoy it!

It seam's that Joe does design work, some of his new designs are awesome, but I know that M.Bender's wife Tracy, Designed his logo and the 6 point logo cue. Do a lot of cuemakers do design work for each other? I like Joe's cues, and they're hard to get. :)

tracy designed his "logo" point, bobby hunter his "difiori" point, joe himself designed the "fancy" and "basic" points and i designed his "spire", "shesiedo", "double vision", "trigger" which by the way is on the cover of the blue book of pool cues 2nd edition, "chase", "tribal", "trident", i know i'm forgetting some but anyway joe has a stack of my design ideas and i'm sure that you'll see a llot more of my designs in his future cues. the thing that joe is great at, besides his fit and finnish of his cues, is taking a design, tweaking it and adding other elements around it to give the cue that "cognoscenti" flare.

I always thought Joe had some nice designs with the Cog line.
Interesting information.
Do you build cues as well?

no i don't. i did small repairs years ago but that was it. i've spent the last 7 years working exclusively with my good friend keith josey, of josey custom cues, designing all cues. thanks for the compliment about my design work!

Tim,

Are you saying that all the above designs are not his creations?

Joe

yes. i know he helped bobby on his system with the difiori point, which bobby used first, among others and i've only heard from others on tracy with the logo point. joe has taken some designs and given them his own flare but the initial designs on these were not the brainchild of joe.

Very interesting. Thanks for the great info. Joe is starting to produce cues with the designs you spoke of. Beautiful design work on your part. These cues are up in the high dollar range, and Joe's craftsmanship speaks for itself. Beautiful cues! :D

Looks like a Josey-inspired Cognescenti.

correction! Cognoscenti inspired - Josey inspired Cognoscenti!;) when i went to joe's shop for the first time, sometime in 94', i saw the work he was doing and it looked like some of the doodling i had been doing for years. i started going up there with some of these "designs" aranged in a "sleeve" or "forearm" look and would give them to him. he has a big stack of this stuff. i was there all the time and we became good freinds. not because of the work but because we were similar in allot of ways. the first design of mine he used was the one in this cue "spire" he named it. he would look at me sometime and tell me "timmy, your outrageous!". i just loved comming up with this stuff and making the designs fit cues and still do! so it was hanging out with joe that sparked all of what eventually transpired.
