New CTE ? #1

there are more than a few claiming how well they play (pocket balls for sure) useing cte so whats stopping you players from taking the world by storm. Im as sure that many of you play better then I as Iam sure few play less hours per year... Knowing the level I (can ) play when I have time to play for an extended period if you teach me a system to make every ball I see, well, Im just as sure there would be many saying dont play him. Wich leads to my second ? that im going to post seperate...

And just to be crystal clear im not being a smart a** of any kind I really would lke to know why if it works so good whats the hold up. if I could make a extra 50,000 a year playing one or two tourneys Id find a way to make my bis. run without me those two weeks.

Because there's more to pool than just potting balls. You have to have great position, good safety and smart tactics.

Let's face it, most of the Pros are sensational potters. They can pot balls from anywhere.

But as anyone can see, that's not enough to win every tournament.

Not much point being the greatest potter of balls in the world when your opponent has you snookered every secondshot!

jobs, kids, no money in professional pool, other world beaters who never miss, psychological problems, lack of desire, hate to travel, etc etc etc.......

Why is this slippery slope argument the one that haters always use?

It's so nasty and mean and jealous.

"Oh, you're so good with CTE then why don't you snap off Johnny Archer?".

This is so hateful.

Why?

Is it really hurtful to you that other people are having fun and getting better? Aren't we all in this to have fun playing pool?

I know when I do get out to play I like to feel good about my game and not feel frustrated. It's frustrating to me to miss balls. So when I find anything that helps me to make more balls is fun and rewarding. And I come here to share that with the rest of you.

So why the hate? Why is it so hard to just be appreciative of someone else's success and glad that they are enjoying pool?

Would you feel better if we said you're right, we will never get better and we are deciding to give up pool, sell our gear, never spend another dime on pool ever?

Is that what you want to happen?

You are so misled, Mowem down. How many tournaments are there for pros?
Answer: A handful. How many pay a big 1st place prize? Same answer, a handful. What's the difference in skill, between the winner and the person who finishes 10th? Not much in skill, but life and death difference in money. Who wins these tournaments? Always it's just ONE person...and not even the same person, from tournament to tournament. Not very good odds, if you ask me, no matter how good you play. How much did Dan Louie win playing pool last year? He's one of your heroes (mine too). I bet it wasn't even CLOSE to $50K...let alone in a couple of tournaments.

What you don't seem to get, is that if someone finds something (aiming or otherwise) that helps them to play better (which means they will enjoy the game more, regardless of whether they make money at it or not), who are you to condemn them, call them out, denigrate them, or whatever? There is almost noone here on this board who is out to become a top pro. There are thousands who just like to play, and would like to play better. Whatever means they use to that end are great.

I know it's been said before, but I don't think it's been emphasized enough that Cte can also help a certain group of players that have trouble setting up on the correct aiming line. I'm not talking about the inexperienced beginner or the guy that just doesn't practice enough. I'm referring to the people that have visual issues and despite years of playing, they can run balls and make circus outs one day and not be able to pocket a ball the next day.

We know who we are. I say we, because the shoe fits me, too. I have had so many frustrating sessions where I would not miss a ball for hours and then not be able to hit a ball within three inches of the pocket.

I found I had an eye dominance problem that unknowingly caused me to switch back and forth between my eyes to aim. Unfortunately for me, at the time this would happen, my body would be lined up for the shot thinking I was using the other eye. I had a lot of WT HECK? moments on simple shots.

Using Cte forces my visuals to be consistent. When my other eye gets frisky, I can tell right away and realign myself. This visual consistency will help a bunch of other players with their own individual visual problems, too. They will learn to set up their sighting lines and how to use their eyes better.

Even if they don't use Cte in the future the basics of a good alignment will benefit their game. Another tool for your toolbox.

It is just healthy to discuss

Just to add:

When you are at your favorite pol room and someone has something to discuss like CTE it is great to just get down and try it out and maybe someone has it down and others think they do and others don't care but if you learn something like that you can pass it on. It will benefit someone for sure.

Of course it has to be in the right atmosphere. I bet you can even have a healthy discussion about CTE with even any good player and see what happens - provided you can explain it!

You know what pisses me off? if someone were to go in the 14.1 forum or even on the main forum and say that they just achieved a personal best of say 82 balls then the following posts would be congratulatory and well wishing without a doubt. There would not be one negative comment.

But if someone else posted the same thing but said that they had just achieved their personal best of 82 balls right after learning CTE aiming then they would get lambasted and CTE would get lambasted.

If someone said that they went to an instructor and the next day they ran 82 balls then the posts would all be congratulatory and full of praise for the instructor and the student who had the willingness to take instruction.

If someone else said that they went to an instructor and the next day they ran 82 balls because the instructor taught them CTE then that person would be labeled a fool and the instructor a snake-oil selling hypnotist.

I don't get it? The amount of downright hatred being spewed here is truly disheartening.

Half of me wants to quit AZ just to get away from the haters. It's really irritating to see such a fine place brought down by jealousy and hate. And for what? Because someone wants to share something that is working for them and causing them to enjoy playing pool more?

I mean if you want to hate then there is plenty of true injustice in the world to hate and rail against. But why tear down your fellow players just because they are having fun with some aspect of the game?

No i totaly get it, you are a world class d*ck head...It was a simple question to all the peole who have been talking about how good cte helps them play whats holding you back. At the worst, they could say its non of my bis. but i didnt really think it was that big a deal, most have things stopping them from playing 10 hours a day. the only reason cte had a part in the ? is because OH YEA, WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT FOR DAYS....

You can add that one line about not trying to be a smart a$$ (in the third of the three threads that you started) but that doesn't minimize the intent.

You see, those of us that have been here a while have seen all this before. That is why you are getting the quick reaction to your negativity. It is a practiced response.

You can feel however you like, but when you come here and spout negativity toward something that many people like and appreciate, you are asking for the reaction that you are getting. There is a difference between constructive criticism and outright negativity. There are many folks posting that they don't get the material on the DVD, or how it's presented, but they are going about it in a reasonable, adult fashion.

You also seem fixated on the concept that Stan believes that there will be a major adoption of this method, up to and including some professionals. Since he has actually worked with some high-level professionals, I believe that is quite possible that he has a better perspective on this than you are I. And even if it is an exaggeration, you seem to be the only one fixated on it. It's called "sales". Do you expect every word of every advertisement you ever read to be held to the same standard that you hold Stan and his DVD to? Do you use any product whose advertisement doesn't hold to that standard?

Relax a bit, and try to have some fun. Pool is supposed to be fun, even when we take it it seriously.
