New cue in the works for J&D

Just wanted to know what you thought of this cue. It is bocote handle with canary forarm and ring. Maple and walnut rings with black phanolic butt plate and soon to be joint.
What do you think?
Was just turned and sealed today.

I've never heard of canary wood. Would you mind giving a description of its characteristics? Curious to know how it would play used as a forearm.

The hit

Canary is a light yellow to dark yellow straight grain in nature wood the hits a lot like maple. It is not real dense in form and really hits well. If you like curly maple or birdseye maple in forarms , which is used in most production cues , you would like the hit of canary. It controls the vibration when using an extreme hardwood like bocote or ebony. It really delivers a quality hit in our cues.

so i will tell you. I do not care for it. The colors of the woods do not complement each other, nor do the grains of the different woods. Might be different in person, but this is what I got from your pictures. Looks like someone wearing plaid pants with a striped shirt and the tones of the colors together are not right to me. FYI, Mexican Bacote happens to be one of my very favorite woods for a cue usually. My cue has Mexican Bacote with African Padauk which I like a lot.

2 colors of woods can go together, but sometimes the tone of the color is wrong. Think brown pants with yellow shirt.

I will be playing at Coaches Corner Tomorrow in Metairie around 8pm. You can hit some with my J&D Custom and see how they play. I really like mine, hits very solid and is very balanced.

it looks good and i don't normally like bocote. but the colors do clash a little the canary throws it off a little. maybe you could try something lighter or much darker. i think that would look better. but still not bad at all
