You've got a great list. So, it doesn't matter what we would choose. It's what you would choose.

Personally, I don't consider things like appreciation and value. Not with this list. I look at looks and hit. All four of these cues are going to hit fantastically. You're not going to make a bad choice.

Can you get a Ginacue for $2500?

Fred

thats a nice list, but how much are they gonna go up in value is my question. Not every maker will skyrocket like a Szam IMO.

$2500 is a BIG budget, for playability AND value I'd go with:

Gilbert
Carolina
Rauhnzahn (sp)

you can still get a great player from these guys for $1000 or less and expect a good return in short time.

I have never owned or played with a Scruggs but I do own the other 3.

I would go in this order of the cues that I own.

1 Gina: good designs and inlays, workmanship is superb. Plays and feels great. One of the best cuemakers ever. Can get a few of his simpler cues for under $2500 but they also come with a 1 x 2 Whitten. His cues always sell fast and hold their value.

2 Bender: simple designs that mostly consists of points. Anything with inlays are over $2500. A good playing cue but I still think the Gina plays better.

3 Lambros: basically his cues consist of long points that extend all the way to the joint. I have not seen any with inlays. Can be picked up for under $2000. Also a decent playing cue but not as good to me as the other 2

I would think that the Scruggs would be #2 from what I have read. Another 2nd would be Richard Black.

Look thru the web sites of all the dealers and do a few searches in this forum. You will get a good feel for what is what.

Given a choice of what cue anyone could have out of the 4 you named with them all being of equal value I think the majority would choose the Gina.

43- benders last time I heard.

There is a guy called Russ- who has been mike benders partner. Russ has dagger pointed benders others have only heard about. He's sell all 53 cues 43 are new benders. PM me if you are interested and I find his number, look at a couple for you. Russ is easy to deal with. Russ also made the bender joint protectors and the bender pin! Mark He shows up at shooters billiards like clock work to play a little 1 pocket.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you on the "GILBERT" addition. I've played with a few Ginas and they were good cues. Honestly, nothing spectacular to me on the playability front. Beautiful craftsmanship though, no doubt.

On that note, every Gilbert I've played with I thought played fantastic. A buddy just had a new Gilbert made - fancy 4 pointer that plays as good as anything I ever hit a ball with. I don't think he quite payed $2500 for it, and you get a lot of cue for your money. I think this guys cues are only going to go up in value.

I've owned one of each. The best hitting is Scruggs, with Gina coming a close second. I would go with Scruggs... if for no other reason, their sharp points.
