NEW Diamond tables - how long did you wait?

Mark
I was lucky. But to be fair, I think if I was adamant about Glen doing the install I would still be waiting :D While he said he would deliver it by the 15th of Oct. (my wife was quite firm with him ) his schedule was changed due to "life". So he arranged for Jay to do the install but personally garuanteed that I would very pleased with the work. Jay did do a great job, made the delivery by Glens promised date, and didn't leave here until close to midnight.
Are you sure there is no one else who he recommneds to the install? I thnk if he signs off on an installer you are good to go.

Jim....the problem is Mark's table is at the factory...Mark's house is in Oregon State....more than 2,000 miles away....and Diamond don't have trucks running up there....so, crating the table is out with a one piece slate....and there isn't a mechanic up there that I'd recommend....so, that leaves me....bringing the table with me across the US in the middle of winter;)

Damn, I guess I have to settle for Glen then :)

You forgot..I'm 1000' up in elevation, have a super steep road, and it already snowed here...Just what you always wanted.

What is so wrong with Oregon?

- No 9' Pro-Ams
- No good mechanics? (not even Chuck or Hank?)

...we have lots of trees here..you know...and it rains a lot, which keeps the CA folks at home.

Hmm, seems like poor planning on your part when deciding on Oregon as a place to live. A little more research and you may have decided upon, I don't know, maybe Indiana? Or if you had bothered to confir with us, you could have saved your table money, moved to Boston instead, and played here
Like they say, the attention is in the detail.

Seriously though, be patient. When Glen does arrrive and sets you up you will be a very happy camper. The trueness of the table absolutley blew us away.

Yeah, I am in contact with Glen. I think he is Diamond's only mechanic? Of course, Glen is the best...

So far, it appears 3.5 months is only about 2x the norm. so far...

I haven't looked at the proam to see if it is assembled differently then the smart table, and if it is not you certainly do not need a special mechanic to set it up. The legs come off & a few guys can move it in. It should have a leveling system that all you need is a tool to turn it with. You don't need shims & the table lifted to level. Anyone can set it up.

Table

Looks like I paid for my table in October, 2010. I knew this would be the last table I ever bought so not only did I choose the best table on the planet (cocobolo Diamond with 1 piece slate and matching light), but also the best mechanic (RKC) to set it up. I gave Aaron specific instructions that I wanted Glen to set up my table. He's offered a few times to have someone else do it. I could have gotten this thing set up months ago if I didn't care of Glen did it. I did though. The timing of him getting here wasn't ever an issue for me. I was/am willing to wait as long as it takes.

The good news is Glen is coming next week to set up my table. So this was a roughly 6 month wait. Worth it in my opinion. Glen won't have pictures of big titty'd women like his Oregon "install", but I'll feed him all the beer and pizza he can hold down.

Everyone offers him Pizza...go with something else.

Glen is great at what he does - no question about that...the best.

Enjoy the table.

Pizza

Thanks Mark for the pizza advice. I read somewhere else where you said Chinese food is out so maybe he'll get some home made stuff my wife cooks. She has an EXCELLENT lasagna or a chicken casserole. Maybe I'll splurge on steak or something.

Only in my wildest dreams will my room look even .005% as good as your room does, Mark. That room is pretty much as big as my whole house. And you said "crappy room"....pffft.

I love the cocobolo table. For the record, I think Diamond tables...including my new Pro-Am...are ugly...Diamond needs to establish a new home table with the wedge leveling system, 1-piece slate, and real hardwoods (like yours). And, while they are at it, fix the pocket marks. With all that said, I still think they make the best table today...with all their faults.
