First I'm hearing of Baseth. He's ahead of Chang Jun Lin from Taiwan 19-5 on a 3 day race to 63.
He's a monster. There's a group of guys about his speed that never leave the 'pines. The next group down, what me and my friends refer to as 'the B-team', could beat almost every player in the U.S. They play on Sharks too.First I'm hearing of Baseth. It's how all the "Sharks" matches are. Their management wanted it that way, according to the commentary. To bring more defense into the game, and to lessen the strength of the break. That's what they said today during the stream.why are they playing pushout/safe 10 ball?
Exactly how do their rules work? Seems weird as hell to me.It's how all the "Sharks" matches are. Their management wanted it that way, according to the commentary. To bring more defense into the game, and to lessen the strength of the break. That's what they said today during the stream.
Me too! I finally learned today, after watching these matches sporadically.Exactly how do their rules work? Seems weird as hell to me.
Okay, so the push/safe is mandatory even when you make a ball. Kinda odd but it seems to work. Sharks just msg'd me that the players voted for this rule set.Me too! I finally learned today, after watching these matches spratdiclally.
I'm 90% it this:
WPA call shot. The rest is custom as follows:
-Alternate break.
-If player makes a ball on the break, he stays at the table. If not, other player comes to the table.
-Whoever is at the table after the break, must play a "push" or a "safety". No option for an offensive shot is allowed.
-If a push is played, the other player can accept or give back. If a safe is played, the other player must play from there.
Yes, I edited it as you were quoting it. push or safe is mandatory. No option for an offensive shot is allowed.Okay, so the push/safe is mandatory even when you make a ball. Kinda odd but it seems to work. Sharks just msg'd me that the players voted for this rule set.
There aren't THAT many B-n-R's in 10ball. Wouldn't think they'd need to go this route.Yes, I edited it as you were quoting it. push or safe is mandatory. No option for an offensive shot is allowed.
I guess because somebody had to try it. I’m an advocate. A few people (Bob Jewett?) suggested mandatory push out some 20+ years ago.why are they playing pushout/safe 10 ball?
What's wrong with B-N-R's? They don't happen that much in 10ball. If you're going to do this just eliminate the break altogether and just have the ref toss the balls on the table. The break is a huge part of rotation games. Rules like this make it meaningless.I guess because somebody had to try it. I’m an advocate. I like these rules, possibly excepting call-shot, but call-shot is standard under WPA guidelines for 10-ball, so I guess it's OK here. These rules are not as extreme as "mandatory push after the break," which I find unsuitable for major tournament play, but they ensure that there is more tactical play and counterplay than with standard rules.Me too! I don`t know man. I think Orcullo was around 50% against ShawThere aren't THAT many B-n-R's in 10ball. Wouldn't think they'd need to go this route.
It eliminates ANY chance of break and runs. Another way to water down the game. The break is still important, as breaking wet will often allow one to play an effective safety, and breaking dry will afford the same to opponent.
At the top level its not that much on average. Still rather have that than this break and push/play safe crap.I don`t know man. I think Orcullo was around 50% against Shaw
