New game to try out, opinions wanted...

It sounds like you reworked your dads rating system.
Do I hear another forum tournament in the works?

Chuck

Yes, this is very similar to his rating system ... slightly odified also to make it more of a "game" rather than a "rating system" although it accomplishes both. Naturally, he was the first one I showed it too and we kinda fine tuned some of the elements of it. He's a pretty knowledgeable guy ;)

I think tournaments could be really fun and interesting using this game, I explained some thoughts in an earlier post

Thanks!

Where does the cue ball go after a scratch

Ball in hand. If you pocketed a ball, it gets spotted. I am leery about people scratching intentionally to get ball in hand, but I think the minus 5 points is enough of a deterrent. May have to be modified after the game is played a lot and we see how it effects things...

Also, it is a scratch if you do not make a legal hit. For example, you don't hit your object ball first or a ball doesn't hit a rail after shot. However, you do not get ball in hand for this, you just get minus 5 points.

I considered the option of a "ball in hand" anytime feature, and you get penalized 7 points or something. However, this was stricken from the concept in order to keep it more "true" to other game methods...

Hope this helps!

Hey Allen,
I like this idea. I will try it tonight.

Thanks, good luck!

Here is a link to a PDF file of a standard scorecard I came up with... If you want to use them. Each printout is essentially 2 scorecards, you can track up to 16 racks per page...

There is also a more in-depth scorecard for learning the game, but you probably will be fine with the "simple" version.
