New Here? - Introduce Yourself

Not new here but I found this picture of me from around the time I started playing pool more seriously and joined an APA league.
Circa 1996, Ace Bar on east 5th street, NYC.
They had in the back area 2 nice 8ft. Tables, best bar in NY to play pool back then, it was my home bar.

Hello everyone, I moved to South Korea in 2013 and have not really had the time to stay active online. Since, I am completely retired now I thought I would get back into the swing of things, then I realized I no longer had my login information. Fortunately, I was able to contact Mike the Azhousepro and he reinstated my privileges, so like Paul Newman said in the Color of Money, I AM BACK!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Good afternoon all.

Eddie here, from Eastern North Carolina. Originally from Puerto Rico, but stayed in CONUS once I retired from the Marines. Just finished my career in Navy Aviation.

I have been playing for around 25 years. I was considered to be a fairly accomplished player back home, especially in my late teens, at least on my general area, an played plenty of tournaments back home; just 8 ball with either bar rules or BCA rules. Usually ended up winning or in the semi finals. My self evaluation of how well I played had a quick reality check when I moved stateside, especially with the 9" tables (not the norm back home and hard to find there) and the strong competition in 9 ball that is predominant here. I did attend tournaments here, several runner ups, third and fourth places, and somehow I jokingly acquired the nickname "Fast Eddie"; I guess I walked right into that one when I started hanging around the local pool hall and making friends there; of your name is Eddie, the "fast" part will be added quickly. But, I am nearly not as good as I was in my late teens on a bar box playing 8 ball. Now I am just an occasional player at the county recreational center due to some unfortunate circumstances; I do not think I will ever be an accomplished or top regional player again. I never wanted to be a pro, just a good overall player capable of break and runs. My other loves are Chess and competition shooting.

I will share my story with pool later on, as I have not shared it with many folks before. Looking forward to some interactions here as well as showing off some equipment.

I believe this is the only picture I have of me playing pool, circa 2011 on an overseas forward operating base.

This is my nice "I feel confident and playing good" getup:

Then, this is my "I want to be unnoticed and do not pay attention to my crappy playing" getup: 🤣

Last, a recently bought Schmelke 4 point rosewood cue with a few custom touches and a Kielwood shaft that actually plays well and was a good value for the buck.

Glad to be here!

Hi all!! New guy from the midwest USA. First started playing pool in the Navy. MM "A" School in Great Lakes, Ill. had a nice pool hall on base in the early 70's. Some friends and I would play there, were it was cheap to play, during the week, then go to Milwaukee on the weekends and play in the pool halls there. Lots of good memories. Been playing off and on ever since. Retired a few years ago and working on getting back into pool a little more seriously. Long past my peak I'm sure, but it's still a lot of fun!! Looking forward to learning a bit here and contributing where I can.

Hi Wayne.

I grew up hanging around the pool halls in the Racine/Milwaukee area in the mid to late '70's...

Welcome!
