I will be conducting a class for new PBIA instructor certification in Charlotte NC on September 16-18. If you are interested in becoming a professional instructor, this is a great opportunity. I will also be doing upgrades for eligible current PBIA instructors. Class size will be limited, so contact me early to reserve your slot.

What would you say is the difference between PBIA certified and BCA certified? is there more info available, like itinerary and cost info? I'm definitely interested.

"PBIA" is the new name of the BCA instructor program. It is still administered through the BCA office.

The cost is typically around $750 but that depends on the instructor trainer. There is an additional $100 certification fee.

An example outline of the certification I do is available at: http://www.sfbilliards.com/richandout.pdf (which I see needs to have the PBIA logo substituted for the BCA logo).

Bob answered the question. Give me a call if you would like to talk about it.

Bob...The published minimum cost for the instructor school is $799.00. Some instructors charge nearly double that. I'm not one of them...and the instructor candidate can come to me in FL, meet up with me at a road show pool school, or I'll come to them wherever they are.

I'm not aware of any mandatory minimum charge. I think that would be considered price-fixing, and that's illegal.

I think this has been discussed before within the organization and I believe the conclusion was the same as Fran's.

It's not price fixing. It's the recommended minimum price to become an instructor. Some follow guidelines, others don't give a crap.

Ummm...pretty sure Bob Jewett gave a response right above your post.

Please pay attention before trying to stir the pot.

You need to pay attention, or get smarter. I was referring to the fact that we didn't have a response from the ones that were charging the fee.

I wish that Cisco, didn't give a crap either. I think I spent over 1500 dollars in getting multiple Cisco certifications 4 years ago as I was working on a career change. Most of the exams were 300 a pop, and of course you had to pass them, or take and pay again.

Then I suggest that people should stop playing with words in order to give a certain impression. Call it like it is. If it's a recommended price, then say it's a recommended price. I also suggest that people should stop defending that kind of behavior. It's unprofessional at best.
