New-ish pool room Denver.

I was Downtown Denver seeing my youngest son and did not have time to make it to Felts so I decided to check out Gerard's Pool Hall. Gerard's is somewhat new to the Denver scene and certainly new to me.

The joint is located in the Curtis park area, this neighborhood is being reinvented with cool restaurants and funky shops with a strong supply of folks milling around enjoying the area. My two boys and I had the place to ourselves except for one other player when we arrived but two hours later this place was packed.

With only seven tables there were players hanging out waiting but with a bar upstairs and a kitchen everyone was content.

With the possible bad news about Hard Times, King of Billiards and Malarkey's its nice to see a room that seems to be finding its niche.

Check it out if you are in town, the tables are Gold Crowns and well maintained.

Gerard is a gentleman, we met him at Felt one day. Great pool hall and atmosphere in our opinion just a bit tough to find parking at times.

I agree on both accounts.

All in all, good to see a room doing well, no matter where its located.

Give my best to that young gun of yours:thumbup2:

$10 an hour during the day on Saturday?
Felt is $3 per hour during the day on Saturday.
And its $1.50 per hour if you play in a league there.
I wont go there, too rich for me.
I play 6 or 7 hours on Saturday, you do the math.

In Santa Monica on Friday and Sat nights after 7:00 its $16.50 an hour. That's a table rate and it don't matter if you are practicing by yourself.

They did just recover all the tables though and they are playing well.

I think that's the right rate for the neighborhood it's in. Also parking really isn't too much of an issue for locals as it's more of a downtown location, but it is for us suburbanites.

I like the room and I like Gerard. His room may be relatively new but he's been around the Denver pool scene forever. I first ran into him at the old Table Steaks near Sloan's lake when I first moved to Colorado over 20 years ago.

He played one pocket before I had an appreciation for the game, now I'd rather play one pocket than anything else.

Is that at House of Billiards?

I remember Amsterdam Billiards in NYC when it was on the upper east side being about $18 an hour on Friday and Saturday nights, back in 1993.

Some steep hourly rates.

No wonder pool halls are closing.

This Gerard’s place looks nice though. A combination of vintage and modern.

This one is $18 weekend evenings, $10 well drinks.

Nice room, I guess the prices keep the riffraff out.

Yep but since my truck was blown to smithereens on I-25 by some clown who wanted to share the same space I was already occupying I had no wheels. And you should know that math, physics and geometry are not my strong suit;)

I have spent a few long days at Amsterdams in NYC.....everyone else seems cheap after that.

Alex parking was easy for sure and Gerard was not there but it would be cool to get to meet him.
