> The old Joss catlogs that had Mike Sigel and Nick Varner in them listed this as a Model 17,the numbering system was kind of odd,the top of the line was the Model 11,the cue that Matt 24 has provided here. This cue, with a lighter or natural stain inside the points with a rich brown forearm and the big ivory points is my single favorite cue of all time, the veneers in my Schon were stained to mimic this contrast in the front. The 11 had a retail price of 1850.00,and the 17 was 1495.00,remember this was late 80's/early 90's. I asked Danny Janes of Joss East about replicating this design in 1997,and was told that he either lost, destroyed or threw away the "pattern" that this cue was made from, assuming he used a pantograph type inlay machine back in those days,he almost certainly uses CNC now. Anyway,he said he would certainly make the cue,but I had to pay to duplicate the inlay patterns, making this a 7-8000 dollar cue. Lucky does have a variation of this design, but the inner veneer in the points comes to a sharp point, rather than the more aesthetically pleasing to me rounded version. These cues might have been reproduced 20-30 times each, maybe more, all with something different,so that no 2 are identical. There are also several floating around that have either Mike Sigel-World Champion,or Nick Varner-World Champion silk-screened on the joint collar, provided the exact age of the cue,the older ones have a smaller white logo on the collars, while the newest/last versions had the gold logo, but had the players name/WC in white. This example is on the late John Wright's site, and this was Sigel's exact cue, which sold, along with his case,Kersenbrock break cue, several extra shafts for each, and a COA for the paltry sum of 13k or so,a travesty considering the historical signifigance of this combo,it only won 50 titles or so with Sigel swinging it.
