New "Juma" ferrule material review...

Are there better materials than this out there?
That depends on what you mean by better. There's lots of materials to choose from, some lighter than Juma, some harder and some take a better polish than others and some are more resistant to scratches and discoloration than others, but in the context of house cues, cost is an issue, it's hard to beat Juma or T34 in that regard. If you're making your own shafts, cost isn't really an issue, then it's more about what hit you like and what qualities are important to you. Tomahawk is super light and very strong, polishes up well too, so if you're into low deflection that's a material to consider. If you want a firmer hit maybe Sabre-T or some sort of LBM is to your liking. If you like old school cues and white colour isn't an issue Micarta is a great ferrule material, several versions available and they are all a little different.

Played since the 60's with ivory.
Like the sound of it.
What interests me is, the length of the ferrule & does it increase spin, like LD's do?
