Jesse Engle just won the Olympia 9 ball tourny in Oconomowoc,Wi.

This kid played played his but off including a match with Jesse Bowman down 5-1 and cameback to win. It ended up hill hill with Bowman going to 10 and Engle going to 9. This is how they handicapped this tourny. Bowman was the only 10 in the tourny.

Pro go to 10 masters go to 9 and everyone else to 8. It's a great way not to chop up the money with too many divisions.

Today starts the 8 ball.

Just got a call from the tournament director. Today Jesse Engle is getting bumped up to the pro level in the tourny. I guess that's what you get for shooting so good.

They bumped me up also to pro. I guess I deserve that also. I lost my second match and come through the loser bracket to play Jesse in the final.

I told Jesse on the ride over here that I wouldn't be surprised if we got first and second. He thought I was kidding. Kind of funny.

In the 8 ball the players go to 5,6,7 and 8. Jesse engle, jesse Bowman and myself have to go to 8. All the other great players here, and there are some good players here, Go to 7,6and 5.

It's also alternate breaks. I know how tough this will be. These guys can all run out in 8 ball.

This old man is pretty wore out after yesterday but I expect good things to happen with my little buddy today.

I told Jesse to take advantage of their bumping himself up to Pro level in the tournament and wear it like a medal. How many 18 year olds can make that kind of impression in one day.

I'm surprised he didn't start out as a 10. If I were handicapping a tourney, I would put him on the level with any other pro. He may not win, but he can be competitive with anyone the way he's playing right now.
 
Gene...No that's what happens when you finish high in the U.S. Open! Jesse is every bit a pro player, and will be for decades to come. A classy young man, who hopefully can disregard some of the actions of some of those around him (hustling, etc.). GREAT win Jesse! Good luck in the 8-ball!

So far, so good. Jesse won his first 2 matches. We're both on the good side.

This will be tough to get through. Just have to see what happens.

Don't get any better than this. NFL playoff games and 2 great tournaments.

Jesse will be there. I'm still rehabing my shoulder. Can't hardly write my name today. I tried to break soft but that plan stops when you get deep in any tournament.

Jesse's having a great time and should for a long time.
 
Geno....that was a hell of a run through the losers bracket after the early loss to Schofield. Nice job. Really enjoyed the match between you and Engel.

We are loading up the tables this morning and headed to Mole Lake for tour stop #6 this weekend.

Hope you and Jesse had a good ride back.

What a great tournament. Times were posted, rooms were great, and I personally can't think of anything that wasn't as good as it could be for the players.

Practice sure makes Perfect and Dean your tour and what your doing for pool is a prime example. You do it alot and your definitely getting better and better at it all the time. How many years now?

If you want a pool lesson find a teacher that does it alot. You'll probably get a good lesson.

If you want your car fixed take it to someone that does it alot.

If you want to see a good pool tournament and be in a good tournament just come and participate in one of Doctor Pools (Deans) tournaments.

Dean's always done a great job with these but I see little things here this weekend that show that their always trying to make it better for everyone.

These are what create dreams and great memories for us hardcore pool enthusiasts. It don't get any better than this...........:thumbup:

Keep up the good work. You guys have my business whenever possible.

PS Dean, If you and your great staff keep doing what your doing and all the rest of us just keep doing what we do (play and have some fun) this pool world is just getting to be a better place all the time where ever your tour goes.

Have one complaint though. You got so many darn players here that they ran the place out of hot water one morning. But that's a good problem. Too many players.

Just goes to show you that your doing things right..........................
