New Lambros Shaft

It's not often I get on here and pump-up equipment, but I had a really good experience I wanted to share w/ the group. About a month ago, I read someone's post about this new shaft that Mike Lambros developed and how it was the best thing since sliced bread.

Now, I've never been a huge laminated shaft fan since I always thought the feel/feedback from my standard shaft was nearly unbeatable. It seems as though some other aftermarket shafts I tried were great with the deflection thing but they felt "dead" compared to my existing shaft. Therefore, when I heard Mike was pumped-up about his new shaft - I thought it was probably time for a trip to his shop.

I'm an "outcome based" pool guy.... meaning, I can care less what technology is in it--- if it plays like crap, it's crap. I screwed one of these shafts and played around for a while. The thing felt amaaaazing. Not only did it provide great feedback, but it reduced the deflection to an unnoticeable level.

I'm not an aftermarket-shaft-guy, but I picked one up on Saturday and have been playing with it non-stop. I'm grinning like hell right now.

I'm just a nobody whose opinion doesn't matter, but if you're in the market for a LD shaft, you owe it to yourself to check this chumpy out. Mike said he was going to setup a booth at the SBE - take one for a test flight and see if I'm crazy.

Sorry for the commercial, but whatever Mike did--- he's a genius.

What size is the tip of the shaft? What type of taper? What does Mike charge for one of these?

Hidy Ho.. The shaft that I am referring to is a new shaft by Mike.. I called him and you are correct, it is the Ultra shaft.. I have one of his cues on order now with the Ultra joint and Ultra shaft. Cannot wait to get it.

Lambros Ultra Shaft

Hello to all.

I've had the Lambros Ultra Shaft since September of '09. It is amazing. The thing that really surprised me was the amount of english I could get. The shaft itself has a very forgiving taper. The wood he chose to use is fantastic. Each piece of the shaft is made from 5 layers of wood pressed together. Unlike other shafts, each of the 5 pieces in the shaft are self-supporting so you feel the true hit of the ball.

I stopped by his shop today and saw he has a newer one that he is going to introduce at Valley Forge. Same dynamics but built thinner with a 11.75 diameter. It's not a Z2 but better.

Now that I've been playing with this thing for a little bit, I thought I'd report back. I honestly didn't think there was any way to make my Lambros play any better and I was wrong. Twinkee is right, I'm way closer to the center with this thing. I can't be happier.

I spoke to Mike today and he said he's gonna be in booth 40 at the expo with some demos.
 
The Irony!

I find the fact that Mike has an aftermarket shaft kind of funny. Several years ago I wanted him to do an after market shaft for me on one of his cues and he was slightly less than interested. I spoke with him about the golf industry and their different shafts and how new technology may be on to something. All to no avail he would not budge. I am betting he was working on his own shaft at that time, hence he had very little interest in seeing some other after market shaft on one of his cues. Funny how things work out. Mike is a great guy and I cannot wait till I can get back to work so I can get another of his cues..

I cannot wait to get my Lambros cue with the Ultra Shaft.. Should be getting it in a week or so according to Mike.. I'll post my thoughts once I play with it for a while.
 
a question

There is no way this shaft can fit anyting but a Lambros joint. Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

Mike's will make a shaft to fit your joint but his Ultra Joint is one that he uses on most of his cues, I believe. I think he has a patent on the Ultra Joint, but you can get one of his Ultra Shafts to fit different joints, to make sure, check with Mike. He does have a web site with contact information.

Mike is going to have shafts will all standard joints at the expo, from what he told me. He's going to sell them to non-Lambros cue customers at the expo.
 
11.75 Version

Hello to all,

Last Friday, I picked up the newer version of the Lambros Ultra Shaft. It is made similarly to his original Ultra Shaft but thinner at 11.75. I currently have both shafts and they both play excellent. But to be honest, the 11.75 one let's me juice the ball to the point where the laws of physics don't matter.

I have stroked the ball and made shots but have had so much english that the ball will just keep spinning and spinning. It is totally amazing.
