Hi everyone, new poster here but have always dropped by the site to check up on things.
I've recently gotten back to playing the game somewhat competitively after a 10-year hiatus. It's taken a while to get back in the swing of things but am glad I'm playing again.
I'd like to think I'm back to about 85% of how I shot before but it seems getting consistent is a struggle. Now I don't play as much as I used to 10 years ago (2-3 league nights a week plus small tournaments on Sundays), but I make an effort to play 3-4 hours a week. But I have seen small improvements over the past few months. The local league has 2 league nights a week but I can only play once a week.
Out of curiosity, for those who took an extended break from the game, how long did it take you to get back to your peak level?
Thanks in advance

Hi Blue … welcome to posting. After an extended absence I don't really remember how long it took to get back to where I was but I decided to really work on my game and blew past the old me and vastly improved. So, depending upon how dedicated you are you have that to look forward to. Good luck.

I played a lot of pool form 1980-86, but I took a break from pool from about 1987-93 to focus on my career. When I came back to the game, it took about six months to regain my previous form, but if you're playing far less than you used to, it might take you a year.

I quit for 7 years once......took me at least a year to get where I could walk into a room
and ask for action without looking around....I did some serious drills.

Blue 11...we might be related...I Blew 11Gs once...

Thanks guys. I'm slowly trying to work on taking it a bit more seriously than just having fun. But I'm definitely not forgetting to have fun. The people I practice with on Sundays play in the same league and we definitely try and get the best out of each other. Some days are better than others but I always make a point to have fun.

pt109, if the phone number you have in your signature is yours, then we may have played in the same hall at some point. Ever played out of Landmark?

That’s not my phone #....it’s my buddy’s.

Landmark.....big basement room that used to get very damp in the spring and summer.
...Dufferin wood tables...leather pockets....Sunday handicap 8-ball tournaments..

Nope....never heard of it...
