Anyone played this one before, a friend and I were going to play the other day and I said let's try something different, I said, I'm not sure it'll be challengeing enough for us but we'll see. So, we played 8 ball with 9 balls, 4 stripes and 4 solids. Turned out to be enough for us, we sure didn't run the table like we surmised. Of course we're just wanna be's anyway. However, may be a good game for others to try. Anyone heard of this before?

I've never seen it referenced or in print before, but I fabricated this game years ago just to see how it would go. Many enjoyed it; albeit it on a bar box. I think it's a good game for players of lesser skill levels. What mattered mostly, is that it was just plain fun.

I use the 9 balls with 8 ball rules when coaching students on strategies and tactics.

It is also a great setup when running youth tournaments - especially when there is only one or two tables.

Back in the 90's friends and I played it some after seeing it referenced in I think American Cueist. I think it was called "Hot 8"

I never played your game, but I did play some strip One Pocket once.
I was sitting at the bar in our local pool hall one night when a really good looking, albeit chubby young girl, asks if I'd care to play a game of strip One Pocket. Well, I thought, this is my lucky night so I agreed to her proposal.
So, long story short, she beats me three games to nothing and I'm standing there with only my socks on.
She breaks down her cue, puts it in it's case, and says, "It's late. I need to be going."
As she's walking out the door I call out, "I didn't even get your name."
"It's Wanderone." She says. "My uncle used to play pool, too." :)
