New Olney Pics

Tom,

Please post some pics of the cue with the leather wrap when you get the chance too. I'll bet it's going to look real nice, I may bring mine to Pete Ohmen to put a leather wrap on.

Hey guys.....nice looking cues..whens the reunion? ;) :p :) I think you guys missed the boat....The white with brown spec linen Jeff has lays real nice..:) on a serious note I'm just jealous you guys are going with leather

That cue looks gorgeous Tom...and I'm not a usually a fan of BEM or curly points.

Hi Everyone. Jeff Olney sent me some pics this morning of my new cue. Two other forum members, Snowmon and Remy, have cues in the same batch so I thought they would be interested too.

I'd like to point out just a few things that I've noticed so far that are typical of Jeff's fabulous work. I'm sure that I'll see more as time goes on, but for starters.

Look at how ALL the ringwork lines up exactly. Both sides of the butt piece, and both sides of the joint. That is time consuming and not easy to achieve either :) .

Note the number of eyes in the BEM points. I've never seen so many !

Look at the grain of the shaftwood. I'm sure they are typical 4 oz Olney shafts, weight matched and hi-toned as always.

I can see that the cocobolo prongs line up perfectly into the middle of the ringwork boxes ! When you consider that the five rings ALL line up perfectly too, it boggles the mind.

Last but not least. Check out the absence of glue lines and the sharpness of the points. I can assure you that every tiny detail of an Olney cue is just that way !

By the way, at my request, Jeff is sending me the cue wrapless. I think it's killing him to do that but I've been saving some very nice Teju Lizard wraps at Mike Pancerny's shop here in Detroit. What color does everyone think would best compliment this cue ? Originally I was thinking a deep rust Teju Lizard, but now that I see the cue I'm leaning to black.

Thanks Jeff, now just put it in the mail Buddy :D ...Tom

Thanks Martin, Larry, and all Olney admirers. It's Noon Monday and I'm home from work, and I'm off to my local billiard parlor to give this a good wringing out. Maybe pics tomorrow...Tom
