New personal best! How many racks have you strung together?

After being in a slump and unmotivated for the last few weeks I finally broke free. And under the worst conditions (table too close to people eating) I mangaged to run two racks in a row and then snap the 9 on the next rack! I've never before had a 2 or 3 pack. I'm feeling pretty excited!!

So what's the biggest package you've ever produced?

I don't know.

When I am shooting my best I am so focused I do not count runs or balls made. The money in my pocket gives me a count of the games won.

I know the count on all big runs made against me. It is a lot easier to keep track when I am just sitting and watching.:p

7 for me - 3 times(9ft twice, BB once) about 20yrs ago. Had a 5 (9ft) using coreys soft break about 2yrs ago, other than that not much in the last 10 - 20yrs don't play much anymore and when I do its on a 10' with ~4 1/8" pockets.

Nice job! On a 9 footer I've done 3 9 and 8 ball racks several times, almost got to 4 in 9 ball (messed up shape at end of the run and hooked myself) and have run 2 packs every so often.

I almost never play on a 7 footer, but I know I've done 2 racks of 8 ball on one of those in league, don't think I ever ran more than one rack of 9 ball one. But I probably played on a 7 footer 1% or less of the time I spent playing pool. For the first 15 years I played pool, I have, without exaggerating, played on a bar table 3 total times, including one time at a carnival. Last few years I played a bit more since I joined a couple of leagues that played on 7 footers, but that was for only a few years and I have not touched a 7 footer in months.

My son (15) has run 3 racks of 9 ball in one set on a 7 footer at the junior event at super billiard expo a few months ago, but that was in a race to 5, I don't know if he did them in a row, and he's done two in 8 ball a few times.

It was around 1976.I was at Breaker's East nightclub in Panama,City,Fl.Jack Bishop owned it and Breaker's West on the beach.Jack backed me against Rayford Warwich, called (Tangle-Eyes).Iwon the first set I think 9-6.Won the flip and ran the set out.Didn't think much about it then, but as I get older,I look back at it as a great accomplishment.Wish I could do it now.

My name is Larry Hayes. If anyone was down there around that time, let me know.Used to play a lot with Bobby Williams.

9-ball maybe 8 years ago 7 racks. small bet per rack winner stays on table 4 players :)

Against me have been twice ran 8 racks at tournament. Another time i played perfect match and I was leading 8-1 race to 9 and opponent got shot and ran match out.

8-ball : 10 racks or 6 depends how to count em. I play 8-ball only at tournaments normally and I was loser side, because my first game opponent put 1+5 against me at first round race to six. Next match i ran out (race to 6) and next after that i put 4 rack from start.

Also i´ve lost semifinal race to 8 so that my opponent win lag and run out match.

10-ball I run out to times set out from 0-3 race to five moneygame. Matches were sequential against same opponent. I believe that is best pool i ever played.

My high gear is really high IMO but it happens way too rarely :sorry:

I always play 9-footers

Aloha,

9-ball ring game, 1981, Clark AB, Philippines Airmen's Club 7-foot bar table:

I strung 13 racks (combination of break & runs, combos, 9 on the break) before I missed the 7 in the 14th game, which game I won also. I then strung 9 more for 22 out of 23 racks total. Everybody quit.

Here is an link to another thread of the same subject a few years back.

In edit: I've always said, "you have to get lucky on the break". If you don't make anything on the break, you will never get beyond the first rack.

My personal best is 5 racks of 9 ball during a monthly bar table tournament that was held a few years ago in Macon, GA. I was on the winner's side and the race was to 7 for both my opponent and I. My opponent was winning 5-0 and he left me a shot. I won that game to make it 5-1 and then I broke and ran 5 racks to get to the hill. I lost my focus and missed a simple straight in shot during the 12th game and my opponent ran out that game and broke and ran the next game to win. I was disappointed to say the least but it was amazing to be in the zone and run those racks, considering I had only been playing pool for a few years at the time.
Another notable string of racks was in an APA 9-ball league match. I was a 7 at the time and my opponent was either a 5 or 6. I won the lag and broke and ran 3 racks out of the gate. On the 4th game, I broke dry. My opponent made the 1 ball and tried to shoot safe on the 2 but he failed to hook me. I ran out the 4th game. At that point it was winning 39 to 1 with one inning in the whole match. I did not break and run any more games during the match but the runs during the first part of the match was a good way to win by a very good match score.
I remember the numbers from the good matches but choose to forget the numbers from bad matches.

Stringing racks together is not always good.
Back in the mid '80s when I could really play I played a guy even race to 5 in 9 ball.
I win the flip and break first. I run 4 racks. Ran the 5th rack and got bad on the 9,played safe and the guy banked it in.
then it went down hill.
I lost 5-4
I went home and ate a can of dog food.

now that's a pool story! my personal best was early 80s and it was an 8 pack on a 4x8 steepleton playing 6 ball for $50 a wrack. first time i ever beat a road player. can't recall his name; i guess he was just meat to me. in tournment play i have run a 3 pack of 8 ball on a bb several times and multiple times in the same tourney in the 90s and 2000s. i miss playing. the good ole days ...

5 racks of 9 ball

54 racks of 8 Ball in a single BCA Summer session 2011

48 in Straight Pool

30+ Century runs in Snooker

Those were the good ol days.

See how many racks of Short Rack 8-Ball you can run & get back to me....

1, and I'm proud of it. I have wanted posters out, maybe one day it will come back. Has anyone seen my one pack? Here onepack, common boy...

Congrats OP, it's a great feeling.

When I think of racks, I automatically think of straight pool because with 9 ball, you can run a rack or multiple racks solely because of slop.
The object ball goes in the wrong pocket but you got to keep shooting and ran the rack because of "luck".....pure & simple.....you got lucky.

In straight pool,my personal high run is only 35.....3 racks.....and two racks was a lot more common for me.......never was able to get a streak
going and bust into the 4th rack.........typically I screw up playing position for the break shot a little earlier than necessary.....consequently I tend
to play harder than necessary shots to run the table rather than waiting until the last 4-5 balls to stake out my break shot for the next rack. I guess
I'm either too impatient or else over-confident in my shot selection and kinda start thinking I'm invincible and can make any shot to preserve my
break shot. That kind of thinking winds up making you move the cue ball around the table more than is needed and consequently, trouble happens.
