Just want to see what's the general opinion of the new Predator cue special edition 20 which is priced at $1700 in most websites.
Does it worth the money?
What do you guys think about the design?

I've been thinking about getting it but not sure if it would be a good buy.

I think they look sweet. Probably will play as well as any Jacoby custom out there. I'd maybe get a hold of Jacoby and ask how they are making the cues, if youre pleased with what they are doing you should buy in a heartbeat. My experience with Predator has been a very good one.
 
I own a Predator SE-14. This was the same kind of deal but Predator worked with longoni to create a cue. I really like it. I also own a Jacoby and think they hit great! The only problem I see is this probably won't retain its value. I bought my SE-14 for $860 and it was in perfect condition (99%?) but had been hit with a couple times. It originally retailed for like $1400 or so.

I did see one of them being sold at a upper class pool hall (Parlor in Bellevue) with a price tag of $2000. That put a smile on my face. I guess if you buy the jacoby one you might be able to flip it for a profit. Tough to say.
 
lol at holding it's value, that giant cat logo certainly won't help

personally if you're willing to spend that much I would go with a true custom and a pred shaft
 
The only thing with custom cues is that in order to get a nice looking custom cue, at least close to this one I haven't see them for less than $2500. So in my opinion to spend $2500 on a use custom cue, it might be a better option to buy this one which almost a custom cue. Would you guys consider this cue as a custom cue or just a factory production cue. They say only 75 will be made.
 
Predators play good, Jacoby's play good...buy the cue for the way it plays. Just look at it this way. If you spend 1700 on it, then before you sell it you need to make 1700 using it, then it's all profit. You are so close to the edge of buying it, i think no matter what you buy you are gonna wonder about this cue, so buy it, post a review, and if you dont like it someone will snatch it up. I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised though! Get a Z2 with it btw!

I personally wouldn't pay that much for a production custom. But it does look nice. Is this one made in conjunction with Samsara? I've seen Samsara with their crazy buttsleeve work. I love the overlapping woods one that looks like doodle'd swirls that was on here a while ago.
 
I just can't see spending that type of money for a production cue!! Specially one without any Ivory in it. I wouldn't be too happy if I went into some billiard parlor somewhere and saw somebody else with the exact same cue!!

I personally would take the $1700 and put it towards a custom cue. One that in the future you would be able to trade or sell at one of the tournaments. I just don't think that one will hold it's value!! JMHO
 
i happen to like it, and i'm not into production cues. But If I was going to buy a predator that would be the one for me.

if you like it and plan on keeping it, buy it. It wont hold value as much as some other cues, having said that I have seen some cues go down in price the past few months that I didnt expect. I would imagine you could buy it for $1500 and sell it for $1000 down the road, but if you never sell it, it dosent matter-just depends on how much you like it.

If you want to get into cues that go up in price or stay the same, you have alot to learn and need ALOT more $$$ to get into that game-and even then you can still lose on a few deals here and there, seems these days that like most everything else cue values are falling, If I was you buy this cue, because your interested in it and play with it for a few years, it will be easy to sell, thats a plus. If you hang around and not buy one now, you might find one for $1000 in a year or two. your choice.

I love the design and the woods used. What I don't like is the cat logo on the handle and how busy the butt is, but I tend to like more simple designs.
 
I played with my predator for a couple of years before going to my Joss w/Z2 shaft and I liked the Predator shaft, just not the Predator butt end. I couldn't see myself paying $1700 or $1995 as shown on their site for this beautiful cue, unless I was stinky rich. The cue is beautiful though, I just didn't like the two black joint collars between all that nice wood. JMO.Ron

Even though I play with a Predator ( Ikon 3 ) and love their shafts, I'm not a big fan of their butts. I have only liked a few of their butt designs and I definately don't like the big cat logo in the wrap area. I chose the Ikon 3 because it is more minimal and sleek. I really love the designs of Richard Black and Richard Chudy. I wish they would design a Predator SE but I highly doubt it, Pred would charge grands for that!
 
It will definitely NOT hold its value. If you buy it and use it for 6 months you will be lucky to 70% of your money back. Just go on the for sale section of azbilliards at look at what predator cues are going for. I have a Predator 3k7. Lots of ivory and mother of pearl. List for $1100. I bought if for $950 new from Predator at Valley Forge a few years ago. I can't get $700 for it. I may try to raffle it off.
I like the looks, but I prefer a wrap. Just remember that for the most part all predator cues use the same shaft. Either z or 314. Therefore they play pretty much the same. The look of the cue has nothing to do with how it plays. It is all the shaft.
If you like the look and here it the important part you like Predator shafts, then buy it. It is not an investment. It is a tool to be used to play the game. Good luck in your decision.
 
For that amount of money I would definitely get something else. Truth to be told my good ole' capone cue was a little bit more expensive than that and played 1,000,000 times better than an SE/LE predator - I have played with an LE11, SE16, SE6 and who knows, maybe some others.

NONE of them have come anywhere close to that cue and it wasn't only my opinion but literally everyone else's who got to play with that Capone.

That Jacoby built Predator looks nice and Jacoby builds good cues, that is 100% sure.

But if I had $1700 to burn, I would buy something else... Take a good look around and pick up a Sugartree, a Mottey, a Richard Harris/Bluegrass, a BlackCreek... there are SO many great deals around that are for sale at probably the lowest prices ever, so you won't lose 700 when selling them.

I sincerely wish that you'll find what you are looking for - but do not forget that playability is behind the beauty and quality of woods and not the number of inlays... IMO.

I would still call this a limited run of production cues.
