New Product (Slip Stic)

I have been experimenting with Slip Stic, and it works very well.. It does not take the place of a shaft sealer but it will take the place of items like cue silk and products like it. It's easy to use and does not harm or pit the shaft, so whether you put it on by hand or machine it produces excellent results. Please visit the site.

They are working on the packaging process now, go to their site and add yourselves to the list. The cost will be very reasonable. The site just went up, they'll be adding the pricing very soon. I just got the go ahead tonight to let you all know about it. I know it's questionable without the price posted yet but this is a very good product.

SlipStic has been in testing for quite sometime. I applied the test product on my Schon about 4 weeks ago and it still remains very slick. Last week it was very humid in our pool room. I asked some of the players how their cue shaft was functioning, the response was sticky. My shaft and another person who's shaft had the product on it remained slick with no change what-so-ever.

The product will become available on Monday of this week at www.slipstic.com. What is nice is that this is not some household product that was repackaged, instead it was specifically developed by chemists for performance; ultra slick, long lasting, repel moistures (sweat), will not attract gritty particles, safe for wood shafts. I only buff it quickly with a dry cotton towel once and a while. The price is expected to be around $14.95 which is enough for about 6 months of applications. The pricing is a reflection of the cost to manufacture this product because of its uniqueness and quality. Later in August a much smaller package size will be offered.

I went to the web-site Sunday night, placed my purchase order, was directed to call a number to complete the order, called Monday and left a message for Pete to please call me. Is he having start-up problems? Michael, I ordered this product because I trust in your judgement. I hope he contacts me so I can try this product out, sounds good.

Thanks, Tom Richert

I talked with Pete Today . He said he was swamped with calls

Is he open for orders ?

Just as I wrote the reply to this thread, Pete called me from Slip Stic.

I must say, we spent about fifteen (15) minutes talking. He was super! He explained the process that went into the developement of this new product and I was quite impressed. I thought that Michael Webb was possibly one of his distributers, but thats not the case. Mike tried his product and liked it, and he's letting us know that there's a good product out there! Thanks Mike!

Pete was great to talk to, he's a fellow player, and he's doing his best to present a great product to the pool palying community. I'm excited about this product. We should all give it a try, I'm sure you'll appreciate the service you recieve from Pete.

Thanks Mike for the info and thanks Pete for the service.

I wish you all the best.

Thanks Tom, I'm glad you got to talk to Pete. I really like this stuff. I have incorporated it into my shaft cleaning service.
First I clean the shaft. Then use my sealers. Then I use slip stic and let it stand a few minutes and buff it out. For people who do this at home let it stand about 10 to 15 minutes then buff it out. For the record I'm a real pain in the ass about what I do, that's why Pete chose me. I hope you all like it as much as I did.

I agree Pete is a good guy to talk with. You know hes getting swamped with calls, but he takes 15min with you, explains the process etc etc... And then hes on the phone with me doing the same thing.... Thats how good business gets done.. Its not just about the product, its about the relationships you forge with your customers.

Plus Mikes just not going to blow smoke up your ass about a product he demos. If he likes it, and recommends it, it has to be worth getting.

Tap, tap, tap PBat.
This industry has a well-deserved bad rap.
It's comforting to know there are still good guys in this industry.

I did some poking around on the web and it sounded like the florinzed waxes that are used on skis and snowboards to make them really fly (for racing mostly). When it was explained to you did it sound like the same thing or something closely related to it?

FYI. In our early research we looked into the chemistry of that very product as well as some variations to it. As we found, that product will damage your cues shaft and will cause pitting to occur over time. We did however fall in love with one company's packaging (Container). They did an excellent job and the container seemed very convenient to store our SlipStic product. Slipstic is a different formula processed at a chemical plant for us.

You should use different packageing so there is no confusion.

You are refering to a product called Zardoz. I have used Zardoz and it works very good except it has a rust inhibitor added that can over time effect your shaft and may even react with your skin.

The problem became that after R&D, to go through the process of molding a nice looking package we would have added much more time to get to the market. You are right though. The labels are different so that products are not confused. It is a really nice package though. Thanks. Maybe we can do something over time in which case ideas would be more than welcomed.

Your correct. That is one of the problems we discovered early on. Our time spent in researching products has yielded a host of other products that could have also presented opportunities but for some reason(s) did not meet our requirements. Obviously the first step was to review existing pool shaft products to see if there was any reason to even compete in this market space. In effect it was worth our time and expense to develop and introduce a brand new product and our hopes are that our customers agree.

You don't have to, there are miliions of packaging already out there right off the shelf from many suppliers at no set up costs at all. Just order them and thats it. You hate to be making changes later . I wish you the best of luck, I know what it takes to get a product to market.

Thanks. I will admit that your experience is most probably better than mine. Product marketing which includes packaging is key. I have found that some poor products actually made it because of good marketing and packaging. Our fault is that SlipStic is to much of a passion for us and do not see the marketing perspective clearly.

Pete,
Have you experimented with SlipStic on fiberglass clad shafts?
