New Rasson Table Install (Dining Top)

I did a dining top table install over the weekend. With all of the recent talk about Rasson tables, I figured that I would share this one here. This table is an Imperial Barnstable 8', with 'Rasson' emblazoned across the components.

The dining top is a 4-piece design. I do not recall the exact weight, but I would guess that each piece is about 20 pounds, which makes removal and installation a bit cumbersome. Unfortunately, there is no built in storage feature.

For an economy grade table, I actually am impressed by the quality of the rails on this table. They are fairly heavy, and are much better than press-board offerings. The quality of workmanship is much better than I have seen from other lower-mid grade tables. The slate, on the other hand... I don't think that I even need to offer an opinion on that, if you look at the photos.

That being said, this is still considered an entry-level (economy) table. However, the price point is fairly high, as compared to other economy tables. I guess that means that you are in fact paying for the additional quality.

Don't be fooled though, this table does not really compare to a commercial grade table. However, it is a pretty decent offering, should you be looking for a decent home model table.

As for particulars:

Rasson k66 cushions
Pocket size: 5" corners (Guessing, as I didn't actually measure)

Nothing like keeping the peace on the home front.
Just a little thinking-calculating, being a designer;
the table bed is at 30" say
add height of rails, 1 3/4" say
then add, keeping the peace table top thickness, say 1"
that would put us at 33" give or take
minus apron thickness for knee-knocker room, looks about at least 6"
Comfortable chairs for this gig will be challenging, however if the set-up is about looks...
looks good, fits well with the room.
Did you notice any tabletop room for, to, move all of the table top placements on a
regular basis... ya' no, a place to move all of her china?
...umm, probably not on the list of a qualified installers list of concerns though, carry on

The slate surface is actually 30 1/2" on this one. The table top raises the height an additional 3 1/2", for an overall dining table height of 34". Unfortunately, finding standard chairs to accommodate this height could be a challenge.

I thought that the table top pieces could store nicely underneath the table. It would be great if there were built-in storage features, which could allow you to store the pieces upright against the iron support rod. Sadly, this is not something that the table manufacturer addressed. Of course, you also need to find a place to store the chairs... I will leave those details up to the end user.
