New room in Edinburgh, Scotland

Wow, that is one hell of a nice place! Truly fit for a king (or queen).

Europe has some of the most truly beautiful and elegant pool rooms to be found anywhere.

What is the pool scene like in Scotland and Europe? From what I have observed (posts like this, and pictures of rooms over there) it seems like its very similar to Golf in that they regard it as a gentlemans persuit. Its a shame pool cant grab a hold of the yuppies here in America a little more. There would be a lot more rooms, and a lot more wallets to get into :grin:
 
Matt I wouldn't say that we regard the game as a gentlemans persuit as such, I think it is more to do with the fact that it is absolutely bloody freezing here in scotland so any indoor sport is treated with the respect it deserves.

Also to answer your question regarding the pool scene here in scotland we have our own tour called the SAPPA Tour (Scottish American Pool Players Association) which run tournaments all year round, add to that the euro tour which goes all round europe and the gb9 tour which travels the UK i'd say pool in britain is pretty healthy.

Im glad to hear that its treated with respect somewhere. I cant really say thats the case around Chicago where I live. There are a couple of decent rooms in the city, but it seems like the sport is drying up and dieing in the burbs. My old standby room got rid of 80 percent of their tables and put in a stage for live music, and the few tables they have left havent been re-covered or worked on in many years. Beyond the other remaining rooms its nothing but barbox's. I hate barboxes!


If anyone from the Chicago area happens upon this thread and knows of any decent rooms...PM me please. Im getting sick of playing that damn ghost in my basement...he's always got the best of it!!
