New room, Ox Billiards in Seattle

its like a bar many of its patrons nurse one or two drinks for all night. but having people inside brings in others so they are basically money paying shills.
Wrong, it's not TVs Cheers, it's a place like many other places in that area that a lot of young professionals and their friends go to in groups, to get AWAY from the typical BAR crowd, as they never fit into the yuppie seen type of locations, many of them going don't have kids, and live in apartments and either walk, or ride bikes to their favorite evening locations to go out to. If you want to comment about a location like this in SEATTLE, at least take the time to learn something about the people you're stereotyping!!!!

uh get some reading skills instead of attacking skills.
Really? Why don't you try explaining the croud of listeners for grunge rock, because that's the same clientele going to the OX, not the sit at the bar slow sippers!!!

It was good. Tables were in excellent condition. Thursday night, might have gotten close to 50% of tables being used, but not for long. Most of my time there was around 25% usage. I spoke with the owner. Nice guy. I asked him how business is doing, he said good. Perhaps he was just being positive, as I can imagine rent is not cheap, and you'd want more in there on a Thursday, but who knows.

neat looking place,
being all ages,
I just vision'd a serious snooker match with a guygal on the other table doing a stinky diaper change.

That would have been funny! While it was not exactly the grunge crowd cobra refers to above, no families with baby's in tow either! ;)

I notice the Ox Billiards membership page says 'membership is now full', and you can submit your name on a waiting list. Must be doing all right??

I’m not gonna knock any new pool rooms. We need everyone we can get. Get cues in peoples hands. Can’t be bad. Even if the room isn’t my personal preference-I still refuse to knock any room.

Best

100% There was also a room that recently opened up north of Seattle. Carom is it's focus. I've yet to check it out. Great to see.

Thank you for this thread and all the well wishes. We have been lurking on it for a while now. I'm happy to report that OX is alive and well, and we have done so many things in less than a year-- with several more events to come. Too many to go into detail. But here is the gist: Membership is key and growing, we educate people on how to play and treat professional tables, we've had snooker and pool professionals in to inspire players, we sponsor and support local talent. Since we are all-ages we can sponsor a junior player. We also sponsor a World Snooker Tour player, we live-stream league play, and we are only in phase one of our growth plan. Wish us luck, we are doing what we can to help cuesports grow. If you are so inclined, here is a link to our blog: https://www.oxbilliards.com/news-blog
