New rules for the nine ball break.

JC

Coos Cues
After the break the other player has the option no matter what happens. Two balls across the head string or ball in hand. Pushouts still allowed on the next shot by whomever is taking it. Loser breaks and racks his own.

Allow about a decade for this to become a science and then go back when no one remembers how to make the one ball or the wing ball if you want to.

Something drastic has to be done to save 9 ball. It's getting ridiculous.

Stupid idea you say? Let's hear yours then.

I like your rules, but I would make it mandatory the incoming player push on the first shot after the break.
Seems to me the better player would win more often rather than the person who got the luckier layouts after the break.

I like the the option after an opponent dry break. Its stupid that you must accept the table after an opponent dry break, if he break dry I think he should get some disadvantage... but instead you come to the table usually playing a push-out which is often a disadvantage ( obviously if you don't have better options or a shot on the one ball).

9 ball

is fine the way it is. After all is done and said, it will still be the same.

Let's hear yours then.

How about:
A) 1-ball goes on foot spot, 9-ball goes in center, triangular rack
B) at least 1 ball must hit rail or drop in pocket
C) sink a numbered ball you get to continue your inning
D) winner breaks

9-Ball is dead. Once you start changing the rules, you lose the game. You can not soft break, x amount of balls must go past the side pockets........ On and on. Maybe instead of 9-Ball play rotation with all 15!

And we come full circle. You guys know I'm kidding about changing the break rules right? 9 ball will remain a game us bangers love to play but increasingly hate to watch. It's sad to watch it die like this but that's what happens with a short rack game where one shot becomes live or die. Anyone been stabbed lately over a loose rack before?
