New Simonis 860 covered in yellow marks. Aramith Ball Cleaner the cause? Can clean?

I bought a used table that came with Aramith TV Pro Cup balls. The balls looked more yellow than I was expecting, but I figured they had gotten a lot of use and had yellowed over time. The previous owner said he cleaned the balls using Aramith Ball Cleaner. I had the table reclothed with Simonis 860 Tournament Blue upon installation. I played with the balls as-is and almost immediately I began noticing yellow marks on the cloth.

I initially thought the yellow marks were burn marks, but now I'm sure that's not it. I bought Aramith Ball Cleaner and Restorer and gave the balls a good cleaning. The cloths I used for cleaning were bright yellow afterwards and the balls definitely looked whiter. I cleaned them two more times over the next few days. The cleaning seemed to lessen the yellowing of the cloth, but it still seemed like more and more yellow marks were showing.

Fast forward a few months and now the cloth is covered in yellow marks. Most aren't very bright, but if you look closely you will see the yellow marks everywhere. The brightest marks are in the break locations, along the rails, and there are vertical yellow streaks where the balls are racked.

My main question is, can these marks be removed or at least subdued? And how can I clean the cloth without damaging it?

Thanks for any advice!

Maybe they were cleaned, then just sat for a long time.

Or, maybe previous owner was a smoker...?

Try a hot washcloth wrung out.

I have some ugly yellow marks on my cloth from when I thought it would be a good idea to remove a couple black smudges with rubbing alcohol. Have you used alcohol in any of your equipment?

Nope, only thing I've used is the Aramith cleaner and restorer.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe there was cleaner residue on the balls and it turned yellow after sitting for many many months.

Would I just take a damp washcloth and gently rub the cloth?

A little Woolite in warm-to-hot water and a microfiber cloth works pretty good. Ratio is about 1 capful per gallon of water. Vacuum table first.

Indications (to me) are that the balls had something else- not disclosed- on them.

Yes .... If it came off the balls, it'll come off the table.

And not sure what was on the balls... They are yellow and your cleaning rag was yellow. I'd clean them some more until you get whatever is on them off.

I've seen over the years people clean pool balls with everything for lemon pledge
to str8 alcohol !
In the 60's , a room owner told me to spray my shaft's with lemon pledge !
NO GOOD ! lol
Good ideas here.
good luck

You want some of this?

Clean the drop pockets or ball return system (whatever your table has) those can get nasty too and transfer to the balls.

It sounds to me that while the balls may have been cleaned/polished with an Aramith product, something else was then applied to them.

I'd guess something like Johnson Paste Wax. You'll just have to keep cleaning them until you get all the yellow off.
