New South West Warped??

My daily player I made 12 years ago.the shaft moves with the seasons.every year i watch it move from dead straight to a lope as the heat and humidity change.you would think it would stop after awhile, but it has not.

I agree that the wood may just need to acclimate itself to it's new atmosphere.

But sending an email and/or making a phone call to Billiard Warehouse is a good idea as well. If for some reason your cue doesn't 'straighten up', at least the paperwork/claim form process is started.
Send an email, and ask them what they would like you to do at this point. This way, if there is a problem down the road, it doesn't appear that you're trying to put one over on them.

Good luck, hope it all works out for you.

SW Shafts

Seems like opinions are about 50/50 right now about it being a problem.

It's my understanding that SW turns their shafts 12 times with a long gap between each cut before they reach their final size. I would say most new shafts will not roll perfectly when you get a new cue, but there are exceptions once in a while. I've owned many cues in my life and I've only had a couple that had perfectly straight shafts. I wouldn't worry about your new SW cues shafts unless they are noticeably warped and if they don't roll perfect at first in Chicago versus the Las Vegas low humidity that they came from I'd be patient and see how they are after they get acclimated to the new humidity in your area. You can talk to Laurie at SW cues if they don't suit you in a reasonable time. She's good about taking care of quality issues with their cues. She replaced a SW shaft for me a few years ago that had a bad place in the wood, but I had to send it to her so she could see the problem before she agreed to replace it.

It appears to me that people with high Itrader ratings, who have probably flipped many many cues, say I shouldnt really worry.

I'm assuming this is because they see some variance in most cases.

Contacted Billiardwarehouse.com, they said the cue was on consignment and they already paid the owner. Basically SOL.

Does anyone have South West's contact info?

I think your sweating it a little too much. The shafts should straighten out in a couple of days as they acclimate. I am surprised that B.W. told you that they wont back what they sell.

So it's a little tiny bit off and you called billiardwarehouse and they said SOL, so now you want to call Southwest?

What do they have to do with it?

You really are blowing this out of proportion. If it was all whopperjawed then I would say something to billiardwarehouse, but since it's out of their hands, why do you think Southwest will help.

There has been a rash lately of people just complaining to high heaven about trivial things. yes I consider a very very small roll off trivial. I had a high end Cog and it wasn't totally true, I played with it, no biggie.

I don't know that I see it as not backing what you sell. If there was an ad for a stick which said 100% shafts roll perfectly straight no deviations, then ya. But if it said new Southwest with 2 shafts, you assume they will be straight, but there is always some variance in that and the OP hasn't waited at all to see how things work out.

Did not know they sold consignment cues. As is huh?
Anyway if you really like the cue and are unhappy with the shafts consider a new SW shaft or upgrade. Enjoy your new cue. Wear it out and buy another one.

Knows more about wood than most. Not only is he a master cuemaker, he is also a master furniture maker.
