It could be many things. Stroke or lack of or roughness of tip or curve of tip. Just a few thinks to think about. After all of the above I simply changed to blue diamond chalk helped a lot. There are very serious an dedicated people on here I hope that come forward with a lot more information than I would know. Skip 
Check the shape. Not necessarily to a nickel or dime, but to the shape of the old tip you had on that cue. <--- You were used to that shape!

hey i have the same problem too i get my new viking cue with a le pro tip on it that shoot stupid and miss cueing so i baught a new moori medium tip and put on to my cue thinking it would shoot perfect .but surprizingly it spoiled my game the moori tip is so hard no matter how much i ***** it up it still doesnt hold much chalk and keep miss cueing and ,wen i shoot a ball the tip making a sound i dunno wy ,and i dont want to change it cause i spent so much money on it ,i loose my confident on the table cuz am shooting so bad i cant even pass first round in tournament and am the top player in were i live

Put on a triangle and your problems will be solved. As long as you have someone put it on that knows what they are doing and don't wreck the grain of the leather you will have one hell of a tip.
One of the best tips on the market and very inexspensive.

As a person who used to install a lot of tips I believe I can say without hesitation that the tip a player selects should, first and foremost, match his or her skill level.
On a scale of 1 to 10, if you (be honest here) think you are a 3 or less, go with a soft tip with a nickle radius. If you are a 4 thru 7, go with a medium tip with a nickle or dime radius. If you are an 8, 9, or 10 go with whatever you like because you've already solved the tip problem. Remember to that if you seem to be miscuing a lot you may simply be trying to put too much jizz on whitey. Try staying closer to center-ball. :smile:

i to was haveing tips to act and look funny. i was useing lepro.
after i heard all the bad reports here on az, i changed over to triangle
haven't looked back. i have some cues with moori tips and i know moori
is one of the better layerd tip out there. but i got to say for the money
and play triangle is hard to beat. after i found out about the vice trick
i liked even better. i found out something else about useing the vice
if dia. is a little over 13mm ,after a 13mm tip sits in vice over night
it is compresed enuff that it makes up the difference . and you don't have
to cut as much meat off ,as you would with a 14mm tip i think the less you turn outer edge of tip down you will have a better quality tip.

Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes. And if you don't know how to properly shape it, then ask for it to be shaped by whomever you have put it on.
The harder the tip, the more stroke needed. If as suggested above, you may need to get a softer tip.
In addition, cheap chalk can cause a lot of misuces. The hall I frequent uses some really cheap stuff that will make you miscue like crazy if you are trying to get out on the edge of the cue ball. I personally only use Masters. Chalk can make a huge difference.

how often do you have to change the felt on your table with all that jizz getting everywhere?
As has been previously mentioned...the tip can have a huge effect on your game. And not all tips are consistent from batch to batch...so getting a bad one is a possibility as well.
I also agree that the harder the tip, the truer the stroke must be...they are pretty unforgiving. You may wish to go with a somewhat softer tip, that allows you to grab more of the CB.
Personally, I have changed all my tips over to Mike Johnson's (Jensen Cues) Milk Duds. They have been very consistent from tip to tip, go on well, shape up nicely, hold their shape AND the chalk. I just had some installed on a new cue arriving today, and the cue maker was VERY impressed with them. I love 'em!
