Hey everyone! I've been a frequent visitor and reader of these forums for a few weeks now, and I finally got the ability to make an intro post! I'm a little iffy with introductions, but I'll try my best.

Name's John, otherwise known as Junior because of another regular named John at the hall. Oddly enough, this is also how a Mr. Efren Reyes gained his nickname, but that's a side point. I reside in the south suburbs of Chicago, IL, and I'm also a few days short of my 19th birthday, come the 13th.

I've been playing pool for a little over one year now. I got my start after watching Poolhall Junkies with a few friends of mine. It was the middle of May, senior year of high school was wrapping up, and I had absolutely nothing to do on this given night. I asked a friend of mine to go to the hall with me, just because I didn't want to go alone. This particular friend of mine is a good card player, and I've lost a decent amount of money to him playing heads-up games. Unfortunately, it seems that his skills didn't carry over into pool, seeing as I managed to beat this guy 9-2 playing 8 ball. Now, I'm not saying it was a graceful victory, but it was a victory nonetheless, and it was the motivation I needed to continue going to the hall night after night.

Ever since, I've been playing pool at Pro-Tyme Billiards, mostly the Alsip location because it's closer, and at UIUC, where I'm a member of the Illini Billiards Club. Personally, I enjoy frequenting Jillian's more than the Illini Union for shooting for the quality of the tables. I'm also working at Pro-Tyme's Orland location for the summer, so if you're in the area, don't hesitate to drop by and say Hey! :D [/plug]

In terms of shooting ability, I can say that every time I go to the hall to practice, I expect to run at least one or two racks of 9 ball a night. I gamble some, but mostly with people I know. I like shooting 9 ball over the other games, despite how popular one-pocket with the people around me, and despite how much Ray tells me that it's good to practice straight pool. :p

Anywho, I'll cut myself short for now. I look forward to contributing to the forums!

Junior...Welcome to AzB! Sounds like your pool game has escalated extremely quickly, for such a short time playing. Anybody who can "run a couple of racks" every time they practice is doing VERY well. Of course, it never hurts to hang around a good pool room, and play with better players either! :D
