New update-Denver poolrooms

Charlie's Billiards

Old thread.

I was wondering if the Denver folks know if Charlie's Billiards re-opened?
Around a year ago it was said to be ready for another try.

I had to make a fast trip to Denver a few weeks back and had a chance to stop and see Felt http://www.feltbar.com/ and it looked great. Samm was there to greet me and I took a few pics. The bar area did not show up well in this photo but it's large and well appointed. I was there on a Monday night and there were plenty of players hanging out.

Charlies never worked out. There were a couple of interested parties as far as trying to make a go of it, but it had something to do with the last owner wanting the incoming investors to pick up too much of the back tax tab. It's a bingo hall now. Very sad, as I picked my living location based on it's proximity to Charlies when I moved here.
As you could tell from your visit to Felt, they seem to be doing well. I still hang at Hanks as that is the place where I can practice for hours on the 9 footers without being bothered. However, when I'm in one of those moods when I want to be 'bothered' I go to Felt. Seems like there's usually somebody that's interested in playing.

I'm proud to be a Felt regular because it is just a great pool hall. Samm Diep took over as marketing manager and the place has been on fire ever since. All the best players, action, ball bangers, couples, date nighters, leagues, tornys, sexy staff, you name it. The tables fill up like a good hall should.

Thanks for the update Td, it was nice to have a real room on that side of town but it sounds like I might have to give bingo a try:p

Awesome, I wish Samm and Mark the best. I need to try to get someone to make that snooker table like new again.

I was at "Hanks" today and they were having an end of league tournament.
It was somebody's 69th birthday and everyone in the room got free birthday cake.First time I ever got anything free there. So I had two pieces and it was very good. I also bought fries and a Pepsi so don't think I was a total free loader.

Did you try the water?

Just kidding. I showed up at Felt a couple Sundays ago and was very encouraged. All the tables in action, a few good players and a smattering of railbirds. Even a fair number of younger players. Maybe something's in the air.
