New Video

I find this thread hilarious -- almost cartoonish. It's initiated with a link to a video that attempts to tie (or put) pool and a controlled substance together. (As if pool's image doesn't suffer enough.) Then, some folks respond, saying they either don't get it, or else don't support the idea. Next, the thread originator responds to these folks, telling them how "they" are living in a different reality if they think that that the controlled substance is a drug (or otherwise "not" a blood-chemistry/mind-/mood-altering substance).

Sort of like a "let me change reality for you -- there is no spoon" thing.

I got an idea -- and it's really "innovative"! Let's make a video that ties pool and magic mushrooms (psilocybin)! Afterall, they can't be considered a drug, for they arguably aren't usually dangerous, occur naturally in nature and have a really cool effect when taken ("man connecting with mother Earth" thing). "Pool together with magic mushrooms, to 'bolster' the motion to make magic mushrooms legal! And if you think magic mushrooms are a drug, you're living in a different reality man!" Wouldn't that be a great message for pool? Wouldn't that be a great message for the kids growing up?

[...shakes head at this silliness...]

I dont know where to start.lol

Comparing pot to mushrooms like comparing your kids battery to a nuclear power plant...lol

And no I don't think mushrooms should be illegal...here is one for you though a mushroom that makes you laugh is illegal but the ones that can kill you are legal. lol I guess its abouit the taxes afterall.

The funny thing here is poeople really think the gov is doing it for a good reason...They cant prevent poison from your kids toy but they think they can erradicate billiards from the earth...oh wait that was 100 years ago oh yeah they think they can eradicate hemp...lol

No law ever passed against billiards in VA?

Man almost every history I ever read about billiards mentioned Jefferson playing billards...So I guess he didn't play???

It is unclear whether Thomas Jefferson ever played billiards. There are a lot of people spreading rumors, but the truth is the truth and that is that no one knows for sure if he ever actually played billiards.

Along with you, I have heard about Jefferson playing billiards back in the day from lots of people. Unfortunately, the truth isn't so clear. There is a lot of misinformation on the internet.

I believe the only mention he makes, in his writings about billiards, is his disdain for it (see my previous post).

Nevertheless, I agree with you that he was a great man.

Best of luck with your endeavours.

In history everyone of those things you mentioned has been done...

Camel, Budweiser, Katarina sisters.

You missed a few: How about when they did pool and airplanes, cars and horse racing?

Or when they did pool and poker?

Or my favorite full contact cage fighting and pool...which BTW got the support of the mob...lol

miller lite...

Your confusing sponsers and finacial supporters of the game with activities that would promote a healthy positive image and encourage a wider market appeal as opposed to further pushing the game into the darkness of backrooms and seedy 'dives'.

No one wants to play next to a table full of drunks and/or pot heads.

What would be "Good" for the game is to try link it to something family oriented or something more generally accepted as good clean fun. If I had the answer to that pool would not be where it is today but I promise you , using the angle of getting stoned is NOT what real sports promoters or bar/club owners will want to be associated with and it will not have a positive effect on the game. Quite the opposite is true I'm sure.
