i have the new Yellow Micarta in stock again in rod and tube.the rod is .563 and the tube is .563x.250.

the tube is $100 per 3 feet or $50 per foot
the rod is $115 for 3 feet or $55 per foot.

all prices include shipping.

Mason - Can you tell me briefly the pros and cons of tube versus rod? I'm assuming it is not asking too much however if that is not the case and it would be too time consuming etc... just tell me that.

Is this the asbestos based yellow micarta like the old stuff?

the tube is cheaper and easier to finish out,you don't have to drill,only tap.

the rod is only necessary if plan on making capped ferrules.

both materials are made the same way out of the same material.one is not better than the other like LBM.the LBM rod is clearly better made than the tube,but the yellow micarta tube is just as strong and smooth as the rod.

while i agree that the old yellow micarta did have asbestos in it,i don't think it was asbestos based.

i believe it was a paper based product.i am not sure asbestos is still used in manufacturing b/c of the hazzards associated with it.

this stuff i am selling is much stronger than the old yellow micarta and even stronger than LBM.it is also lighter weight than both.

no LBM yet,sorry.

i am going through 2 very large companies to get this stuff so the red tape is unreal and then when someone on either end forgets something i just have to wait.doesn't do me any good to gripe at them.i am just a peon ordering $400 worth when most people are ordering thousands+.

anyway,i think the local guy forgot to order the LBM b/c he sounded a little surprised when i asked if it was in or not 2 weeks ago.i guess it's on the way now.

several guys sent me money over the weekend for the micarta and i wanted to let you all know that instead of Tuesday it is going out Wednesday,sorry for delay but i couldn't get into the shop today.it is going out USPS Priority Wednesday.
