I came across newspaper.com the other day. It has a large database of old clippings. Found some great pool article from my area of southern ohio, Cincinnati.
The site is incredible. I've been searching all morning. Lots of pool history from my local area but also national. Found Articles about Ginacue, Balabushka etc.I just recently found that site. I've been trying to uncover the history of the early US Open 9-Ball tournaments in Virginia. That was a time when the pool mags were a little sparse.
If you find some interesting clips, the Pool History sub-forum is a good place to put them. There is a thread in there about Balabushka. The site is incredible. I've been searching all morning. Lots of pool history from my local area but also national. Found Articles about Ginacue, Balabushka etc.
I remember when the "Bowlers Journal and Billiard review" or the "National Billiard News" with it's misspellings and stories that said continued on page 6 and the ending was nowhere to be found, would arrive at the pool room.I just recently found that site. Harpers and Illustrated Science are great sources pre 1900. I did research a lot of newspaper microfilm but the info is very sparse. Not really worth the time spent { imo and I have a lot of hours invested. } unless you have something specific.I came across newspaper.com the other day. It has a large database of old clippings. I tried looking through my Lexis/Nexis feed for you a few weeks ago. Then life got busy. If I can find anything, I'll send it your way. I'll even go snap some pics of microfiche if needed. If you find some interesting clips, the Pool History sub-forum is a good place to put them. There is a thread in there about Balabushka.
