Hi Everybody,

next month I will be for a couple of weeks on a business trip to St. Paul.
Since I would liketo get back to the table in that time, I'd like to ask you for some suggestions, where it is nice (and reasonable cheap) to play.

I have not touched my queue in a while so I will need some time to get back to speed I guess.

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Björn aka Avathar

There is Shooters in Burnsville (southern suburb).
2 Stooges, CR Billiards and Biffs on the northern edge and as was mentioned, Jimmy's which is a little south of the last 3. All are within driving distance no problem.
If you want to shoot on a 9 footer scratch CR's off the list.
2 Stooges has quite a few nice 9 footers and 7 foot diamonds. They also have a 9 footer with pro cut pockets. The food is good as well.

Pretty much what Poolfool said. There are not any pool halls in St. Paul anymore, but there should he a few nice ones within 20 minutes or so. Shooters is a nice place with 60+ tables. Nothing else is in that area though. Like mentioned already, the north side of the cities have 3-4 pool halls within a few miles of each other. The area does have some nice places to play.

I'm a fan of Jimmy's Pro Billiards in Columbia Heights. Nice place, good burgers, 9' diamonds, 9' gold crowns, 7' Diamonds, free parking in city ramp in back. The owner is Jimmy Wetch, former pro player.

Is it bad I just want to make the 2 hour drive to Burnsville to shoot on a Diamond table?

Hi again,

so yesterday I tried the 2 Stooges and found that the table played pretty OK, the pockets are buckets, but with my current lack of training this was probably good for my own motivation ;)
I loved the food indeed, specially since I skipped lunch before that.

Since shooting all for myself is kind of boring, I'd like to ask, if there is anybody around one of the suggested "nine footer" places who would enjoy to bang some balls ...

As said, i did not play much in the last six month or so and I only brought my beloved but long time unused non laminated shaft custom with me, so anything including English seems a lil like rolling dice ;) I am getting there though slowly again.
Someone to play would make getting back to speed much more fun though!

So if you like, I will be off on the weekends and possibly in the early evenings (usually 6pm-8:30pm or so)

if you like to play, just drop me a line.

Since it seems to be important on here: I do not gamble, sorry!

I live too far away or I'd come shoot some with you. Try the 9 footer with the pro-cut pockets if you think the pockets are too loose on the other tables. That table is right by the counter.

Thats great advice Put a banger on the best action table in the area.

For one thing he is not a banger. And please remind me when the last time there was real action on that table or any other in stooges for more than 100 a set lol.

Thanks for spoiling my reputation ;)

Was great shooting with you and I have to admit, that the 1-pocket kind of got to me ... I really need to get more into that :)

I hope we'll get another chance of shooting some ...

Well last time I was at 2 Stooges there was nobody playing on the 9 footer with the green cloth (I assume that'll be the table you guys talk about?)
I would surely spoil the action for those who want to gamble anyhow I guess ...

This afternoon, I will see how shooting on 7 footers will fell like and join that 8-ball tournament at 2 Stooges.

For those who go there! See you!

Thanks for playing yesterday! That was great fun and the burger was truly good

I will be at Shooters in Burnsville most of the day today if you want to come out and play some. I will more than likely be on 1 of the tables right behind the counter in the ring. If you show up, just ask for Matt and they will show you where I am.

I really enjoyed the games last night, you are a true gentlemen. Sorry about knocking your game I guess that beach front property you were going to put a down payment on after your mn road trip will have to wait. That table at stooges is played on everyday by folks that cant hold a cue I'm not sure what that guys problem is. Have fun a the tournament its always a tough field. We will play again soon

action table

I've played a few sessions on that table for more than $100/set in the last few months...but that well dried up pretty quick unfortunately. Back to poker until another player moves into town...

touche

Touche.

You're right. I should've added that I'm here right now playing poker on stooges wi-fi and would be up for a game...but you're right. That won't happen until a certain young player runs good at black jack and gets barred from the casino before he can lose it back ;)

Next time you see me tap me on the shoulder so I know who you are. Take care.

I'm a banger and I play on it whenever I get a chance to stop in......has never cost me more than playing time and a coke and I've yet to be accosted by a shark looking to feed.
