Well, the truth pill can be a bitter one to swallow sometimes.
Charlie "Hillbilly" Bryant told the story on a live stream from Turningstone Casino. Rempe refused to sign the kids cue ball for less than $100. (this event was in Texas) The kid was about 7 or 8, in a wheel chair and dying of Cancer. Several pros asked Rempe to sign, but he refused. Hillbilly gave Rempe the $100 bill and gave the kid the signed ball.
Respect is always earned, not demanded. When you act like a dirtbag, people will associate that with your name.

Wow, kudos to Hillbilly.

Just a bit of info about autographs. I didn't like it when I was asked for one because I just did not think I deserved to be in that category. I would prefer to just shake some ones hand.
I did an episode of Star Trek Enterprise and one on Deep Space Nine.

There was a lot of Trekkies who got downright ornery for signing memorabilia.

When a guy asked me for an autograph on a face card of my character "Buck Bokai" he told me it was for his son who was not able to be there. I relented. Couple months later I saw it on ebay for sale.
I just stopped doing it after that.

I get it. Many people feel that way after a similar experience. Most people have heard the story of Paul Newman being approached at a urinal and from then on refusing to sign in public. Autographs can bring good money but it's a tricky hobby. Authenticity is always a concern and certificates of authenticity aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
