Everyone at the Scruggs Shop in all of its eras. Tim was a people person and very nice guy. Bob Frey who started with Tim there before leaving to start his own shop is perhaps the nicest and most humble guy I think I ever met. Mike Cochran who became the man in the back after Bob left was a great guy as well, I spent a lot of time in that shop over the years just hanging out with them, all great people.
 
I’ll second Jerry Rauenzahn……hex was every bit as friendly and courteous as Bob Owen. Between 2013 and 2016, I ordered four custom cues (2 ea) from Bob and Jerry. It was the best cue ordering experience I’ve ever had and Jerry became my close friend as did Bob Owen.
 
Steve Lomax seems like such a nice guy. He has been so friendly to me whenever I talked to him, over email. If I had the money, I would order a cue from him.

One of my favorite players, Justin Bergman, played with a Lomax, for a very long time, I believe.

Also, was it Alex Pagulayan, who played with a Lomax? I am not sure.
 
Jerry Rauenzahn. Excellent communication, pleasure to deal with and he delivered my cue in the quoted timeframe to the day. The cue building community lost a good one the day he retired.

The Petes are no bullshit but very friendly
The Diveneys are great
Richard Harris is a nice guy though he has zero issues telling you what he won't do, lol. But that's his prerogative as the builder, and he's just particular about what he'll build.
Laurie Franklin is very kind, if she counts
Dave Barrenbrugge and I have had very friendly email exchanges though we've never gotten anything done

Honestly, most cuemakers I've interacted with are pretty cool. I haven't had a lot of bad experiences - the worst I've had are guys who are still very friendly, but tell you they can't build you a cue. Those are guys like Ed Prewitt and Richard Harris, and it's not their fault they're booked up. I'd rather they tell me no than take a deposit and hopefully something shows up years later.

I'll also say Mike Lambros is perfectly fine over the phone and told me he'd build me a cue and that it was part of a batch that would be done in a matter of months, took down all my information, and never called me again. This was 3-4 years ago. I've heard this is a thing with him - tells you he'll build you something and then sells it to one of his dealers. Guy builds a monster cue, but pretty chickenshit behavior IMO.
