Nicest pros?

Keith McCready has always been nice to pool enthusiasts, fans, railbirds, and others at every single event we have been to. He interacts with people on social media, answering their posts, unlike some others of today, and past, present, and future, he sends autographed items most times for free to anyone who asks him. He often donates things to charity pool events. That's just how he rolls.

In fact, just a day or two ago, an AzB-er asked if Keith could send a short video snippet to a buddy of his saying the TCOM nightmare line and mentioning his friend's name. Keith complied immediately, and we made the video clip. He was happy to do it.

I guess out of sight, out of mind, since his name was not mentioned. I know when he does attend a pool happening, he seems to draw a large crowd, and he still receives invites to many major events even today as a player, commentator, and sometimes a podcast or interview. Keith McCready really is a nice person who goes out of his way for pool fans. We go to the post office on a weekly basis to mail out items to folks.

That is so cool. TCOM is my favorite pool movie and we throw that line around the pool room all the time. :)

On a side note JAM, could you message me? I would be interested in seeing what it would take to bring Keith to me local pool room.

Thanks!!

Alex, when he first met Keith....he was in his early twenties, used to rave about him...said he was the best to see in action....and always wowed the crowd.

Paul Potier. Friend of mine first met in early 80's at University of Manitoba where he managed the pool hall at the time. I was one of his original 'students', and he went on to turn pro, win 2 Canadian 9-ball championships, and currently resides in Vancouver and continues to provide lessons. Would give you the shirt off his back. https://paulpotier.com.

I'm glad to hear that. I almost added him to my naughty list. We played in Phoenix last year and during the couple of hours we were together he did nothing but non-stop self promotion. Telling me how good he was as an instructor, telling the wait staff how good he was at restaurant management, etc.

Mike Massey and Jeanette Lee get my vote. They are simply good people. From talking with Mike at one time, I'd say he is one of those people who have "never met a stranger".

I was curious who are the consensus good guys in the sport. By "good guys" I mean friendly, good to fans, etc., not ability. The camera time the professionals get is minimal compared to even a second-stringer in more popular sports, so you don't get as much feel for the players' personalities. There are some (Naoyuki Oi) who seem like enjoyable goofballs & others that seem like jerks, but I'd be curious to hear opinions & experiences.

Thanks.
Perhaps a better question would be who are the bad guys, who are the standoffish and unapproachable players? As for the good guys I would say Jason Shaw, after his big run and at Derby's city he must have had his picture taken a 1000 times.

I been around a lot of pros the past 25 years at tournaments and expos etc. Two people at the top of my list by large margin is Jeanette Lee and Mike Massey. Jeanette Lee I remember at an expo seeing her stay way after everybody left to sign autographs and help kids. No other pro stayed they all left and that left a impression on many who still was their as fans. She was always willing to go extra mile for any kids to grow the sport. Mike Massey I remember meeting him a few times and a true entertainer and would spend time talking to everybody. He has some great stories and just makes you feel good about the image of pool.

Mike Massey seems to be mentioned more that anyone so far.
A friend of mine had just met Mike Massey and told him he wanted to play in a doubles event and was looking for a partner. Massey readily agreed. That's the kind of stuff that is good for pool.

In the 90's at the Reno tournaments most all of the pro's were great with the fans. I remember a fan came up to Johnny Archer when he was warming up for a match and asked him how he broke the balls so hard. Johnny stopped what he was doing, racked the balls and gave his cue to the guy and said show me your break. He did not have a good break. Johnny worked with him for about 10 minutes and had him crushing the balls.

Of course. One of the other guys is a known hot head and the other is also on a list somewhere for naughty people. I apologize if the joke wasn't obvious enough.
Having daughters and having gambled with Howard....there's no room for a joke in this area...pedophile. Period

The joke was calling him a nice guy when we all know he's a POS. If you think it's inappropriate then that's ok. I'll disagree.

All????????
I don't think the newer posters, or many have a clue about this person.
And I'm not gonna argue....
