For a long time, I used to have this recurring dream of rattling a 9 ball in a critical hill hill match. Strange thing was I saw it from the angle of a pocket video cam like on those televised matches. Seemed so real, it would wake me up.

Don't call the guys in the white jackets just yet. I was just wondering if anyone else dreams of playing pool?
 
I've had dreams of pool. The most recurring one is just a simple side pocket shot on the 2 ball.

When those guys with the white jackets show up, send half over to my place.

I remember exact shots and patterns that I played, good and bad, over twentyfive years ago.

I also have dreams where I am playing pool but not necessarily reoccurring about the same miss or runout.

The other vivid dream that I hate which wakes me up from time to time is when I am driving in it. I am coming up to a stop light or in traffic and I need to brake but the brakes won't work. So you know the two footed push onto the brake pad to try to stop faster is what I end up trying in the dream. And in reality I am trying so hard to push down on the pedal I end up way down on my bed with half my legs hanging off. Sleep driving. Then I wake up with tons of adrenaline running through and relief that I didn't just rear end someone. I don't think I ever actually hit the other car.

As I always say, the terrible shots, the gaffs, the chokes, the crucial misses that you make today help to erase (temporarily) the mishaps of yesterday.

It's like a nightmare, isn't it? Just keeps getting worse and worse! :D

On a serious note, I always thought it phenomenal that players can remember shots they missed from 10-plus years ago, the exact layout of the table, the score, everything. :p

Strange that this thread comes up since the past two nights I have had vivid dreams of playing pool. Not a usual thing for me to even remember my dreams let alone the dreams be pool. Sunday I dreamed of playing tournament nineball and being in a close match and last night I was matched up racing to 5 for 1k in 1pocket against a local here in Miami.
 
I came up with a new kicking system lying in bed after waking up from a pool dream...I couldn't wait until the next day to try it out, and it worked great!

Yeah when I was taking a programming class at college I was having problems with bugs in the program and couldn't get the functions to work properly. I went to bed and dreamt of the answer, seeing the code in my dream. I immediately woke up from the realization of the answer, scribbled my dream on some paper real quick and went back to bed. Woke up in the morning, programmed it out and it worked perfect. Crazy.

Funny you'd say that, I've done the same thing with programs, too!

I don't have vivid pool dreams. I know I dream about it but usually don't remember much. I don't know if it is because I used to own a couple of old Dodge Power Wagons with crappy brakes or not, but I frequently wake up after driving off a cliff. It usually starts with me being stopped or moving slowly and the car/truck starts rolling. Nothing I do will stop it. The last one was pretty spectacular. I started rolling down hill backwards. When I realized I couldn't stop, I started thinking about waiting till I got in the air, then climb out into the back and jump into the water (there's almost always water at the bottom of the fall) away from the truck. Well, when I got into the air, it was about a thousand feet to the sparking ocean below. I realized that even if I managed to follow the truck (breaking the surface tension for me) I was still going to get pretty messed up, so I opted for waking up instead. It always amazes me how I can apply logic and remember scheduling conflicts while dreaming in what are usually very illogical circumstances. Another oft recurring dream for me is using stairs that have no railing/railing collapses that lead to/from precarious situations.
Todd, hope the house hunting went well. I was kind of glad you didn't come out. Had a long session with CO Saturday that took a lot of effort.

Once, after working a little too hard for several days straight struggling with an Oracle database, I dreamt my girlfriend (who was sleeping next to me) was a database and I could only ask her questions phrased as SQL. She woke me up asking me what a "left outer join" was.

Okay, now I guess we all know who really needs the psychiatric help around here.
