I’m interested in how Gary Wilson will do….I assume he won’t be showing up with his snooker cue.
Good short read. He has been training and has some gear... time to shine now.

I heard at the venue that Pagulayan isn't playing due to travel problems.

They were hoping for 32 tables but due to shipping issues they ended up with 24. Scheduling might be interesting. Also, they decided to not use a shot clock except as needed.

The pockets are 4 1/4" and not the 4" that will be used in the future. They looked quite playable during practice.

I already caught myself thinking what lousy position that player just got on the four ball. Then he shot the straight-in pink four. In related news, I haven't gotten used to gray cloth, either.

It will be interesting to see if any top player gets run over early by the wired wing ball. (template, one on the spot, no break box)

They will be playing background music during the first phase.

I think there are easily ten players who could win this. Maybe pick four versus the field at even money?

I heard Alex doesn’t like the purple 5

Can somebody translate this? What does the partr highlighted in red mean?

If you try to bet on someone, you have the option of checking E/W....

It sounds like it just means you are betting on them to get either 1st or 2nd. If Shane wins, the odds are 8/1, but if he gets 2nd they are 4/1.

Not 100%, but it's what makes sense to me.

yes e/w is each way. so betting on the player placing 1st or 2nd. in other words a hedged outright bet, betting on the player reaching finals.

i always bet e/w in snooker. i don't bet on pool. the sport isn't mature yet, in terms of governing body, prize money etc.

My top 10

Filler
Ouschan
SVB
Ko Pin Yi
Orcollo
Alcaide
Chang
Kaci
Oi
Someone from Poland

sounds about right. maybe switch alcaide with FSR and chang with another pole.

zielinski, szewcyk, fortunski.. hard to pick which one is the best now. i have zero doubt zielinski will win a major event like this at some point

Alex said it’s a touch of covid

If you bet "each way" you are making two bets at the same time. Half of your stake goes on the player winning, the other half on him placing (in this case 1st or 2nd, in horse racing it will be 1st-2nd, 3rd or 4th depending on the size of the field). You win less for placing than finishing 1st - so you are essentially making an insurance bet on a place while scooping a reduced pot for a win. In practice you are making two separate bets (win and place) on the same ticket.

definitely noticed this in fisher vs teber..

In related news, I haven't gotten used to gray cloth, either.

I had trouble seeing the difference between the near short rail and the table bed on a certain shot in the above-mentioned match
not sure how much that has to do with the cloth being grey, but that was interesting to me.

So does this mean that there's no way to see table 1 until the last 16? I have a DAZN monthly subscription and I don't see anything there but boxing and their usual non-pool fare.

Matchroom Facebook site streams table one until last 16. TV production kicks in last 16. I think last 16 should start 21th of may

i wasnt expecting gary wilson to be playing this entertaining. i don't like the guy, he's a bit of a grumpy grinder in snooker, sore loser too. but he plays 9-ball fast and loose, attacking. very interesting
