NINE BALL WIZARD
(Sung to The Who’s Pinball Wizard)

When I was a young boy, went to the pool hall
Shorty cracked the diamond, watched the one ball fall
Two to the nine, the shortstop ran em all
Champion of the world one day, I sure play, a mean nine ball

Pa scored me a Brunswick and a Southwest cue
Taught me stun and tops, couldn’t get the screw
Practiced day and night, made ole whitey crawl
Champion of the world one day, I sure play, a mean nine ball

I’m a nine ball wizard, I’m gonna be the best
Like Efren and Mosconi, I- got-ta- pass- the- test
How do get in dead stroke
I don’t choke
It makes me so good

Took the plane to Taiwan, on the world’s stage
Ran rack after rack, kept em in a cage
Should’ve seen me play, standin really tall
Champion of the world, I sure play a mean nine ball

Alex thought he was, the mighty table King
But he just handed, his nine ball crown to me

On the TV table, I beat the worlds best
Like champions before me, I passed the grueling test
Earl, Efren and Alex, yes I crushed em all
I’m champion of the world, I sure play a mean nine ball

glad somebody has a sense of humor in this forum,,,like the lyrics man,,,now pursue the dream,,,be da' champ,,,I'm too old to even try...LOL

Elton John would be proud.

Like a bridge over a Brunswick Golf Crown IV, I will lay me down. My guess is Simon and Garfulkel might not be too proud of me. I best not give up my day job to become a songwriter.

It's Pete Townshend you need worry about ...

You are half right, and Mr. Garfunkel is the one who would not be too impressed :)

Dave, who had to look at a CD case just now ...

You're right, Dave. I dogged that one. Pinball wizard is, of course, by The Who.

An easy one to forgive sjm ...

Elton covered it pretty well though ...

Dave, who missed the Who (complete with Keith Moon) when they played in Saskatoon a loooooong time ago :(

On VH1, they recently showed a Dick Cavett Show from the 60's on which The Who appeared. Cavett introduced them as a great up and coming band and they were all wearing light blue leisure suits. Had to be seen to be believed.

DaveK,
I'll tell you that the Who live was pretty decent. But there is no beating the Guess Who (saw them live 5 or 6 times). I felt I had to chime in, as am sitting here listening to my Guess Who anthology (complete), and the song "Running off to Saskatoon" just finished - it's a weird world. Burton Cummings could sing rings around Roger Daltrey.

Ya, the Guess Who are nearly a local band, missing by a mere 600 miles ... serious prodigy that Burton Cummings, he wrote one of their biggest hits (American Woman ??) when he was 13 or something like that. They had a pretty good guitar player in Randy Backman as well ... I've seen them (Guess Who) but would still like to see the Who (too bad I missed the opportunity to see them with Keith Moon ...).

Some of my earliest memories are of the Ed Sullivan Show ... I can't say if I saw the Who on Ed's show, but definately saw the Beatles and the Dave Clark 5. John Entwistle in a light blue leisuer suit ... playing Who Are You ... Willie is right, wierd world ...

Dave

PS Good lyrics Recovery, when are you releasing the single ?

Thanks Dave,
I've changed the lyrics to many many songs and I am allways having fun with it. I usually do it to make fun of politicians and celebritys, or daily news happenings. RJ

And Bob Dylan was right, for the times they are a changing.
