No 1 Pool Room in the Southeast

FASTBREAK BILLIARDS of Longwood Florida was names #1 in the Southeast by Pool & Billiards Mag in the January issue.

Check out the two page write up and make plans to get there.

It is a room with lots of action every night if you're looking for a game.

IPT and WPBA pro's hang out there as well as several strong players.

Every Tues & Thur night's 8PM 9 Ball tournament has 50+ players every time.

Pete Ohman and several other top name pros agree they have the best and the toughest tables in the state.

12 9' Conley Ultimates
4 8' Prolines
4 7' Valley

All in mint playing condition with the best cloth on every table.

There is a waiting list every night to get on a table.

Bring your best game there and you can be sure you'll have no problem getting one if your looking for the action.

Action Central

Buffalos Billiards in New Orleans (Metairie) has become "Action Central" in the 2 short weeks since it opened. Road players are starting to come through. No loud music, no 20 TVs, no tournaments; just action on 8 new 9' Diamonds and 3 bar boxes. Joey A. is in hog heaven, fleecing road dogs and locals alike. Gerald Huber ("Green Felt Jungle") is keeping the dollar action high. Lil John has put out an APB for anyone who wants action. This will quickly become THE action spot in Dixie.

I might be a little biased in saying this but I've been to quite a few pool rooms and so far...

THE POOL ROOM in Marietta, GA

is by far the most impressive. Wood grain setting and well lighted. Attractive and friendly staff. Projection TV's at the bar. Great food. Was the location of the last IPT qualifier, numerous other Viking tour stops, numerous KBP Fury tour stops, J Pechaur stops and several others. They have...

14 (9' Olhausen's)
3 (9' Gandy's)
20-30 (9' Brunswick's)

All in all, over 40 tables. I think that's pretty impressive!

I agree it is one of the nicest rooms I have been to. Hard to believe, but John's new room in Duluth is even better than the original.

I was there yesterday and couldn't wait to get out of there. My nose and hands were numb. Frozen. Here we are in Florida and the owner keeps the air-conditioner on full blast. Everyone was wearing heavy jackets. Except stupid me who left his at home.

But the room is nice. I like the layout. 12 tables with slow cloth but nice.
At least #11 was slow. 1 & 2 seemed a bit faster. Also coin op tables.

Of course my thoughts may be jaded since I stunk up the place with my play. Lost 7-6 while giving away 4 games then lost 5-4 and gave more games away. I am seriously thinking of giving up pool, after missing soooo many routine shots, and taking up ping-pong. And it wasn't the table being hard it was just stupid me! When a person missed the shots I missed it is time to hang it up. AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHH I hate this game.

Well I have to go up to the club now and play my league match.

Gotta see it.

Gotta tip on down there and take a look, Doc. WIthout a doubt, the best little pool room in the south is Southern Billiards in Starkville, Miss. Nicest people too.

Fastbreaks blows SLOW CLOTH!!

Since Pro-billiards in Orlando is now gone, One of the best in the south east has to be
11000 Beach Blvd
Jacksonville,FL or
www.playatbankshots.com or the pool room in GA.
But, if you want a awesome pool hall, you have to check out ROMINES HIGH POCKETS in Milwaukee, WOW!! BIG!!!
and the $$$$ is always right there for the picking.
http://www.romineshighpockets.com/home/

Check them out.

The pool hall I frequent was filled with great shooters, until I showed up. One bad apple spoils a bunch!

Okay, But does anyone think Pool and Billiards magazine is not the worst pool magazine in the country?

Doc you got most of it right. I am in hog heaven. It is minutes away from my house/office and I can go to the grocery store and HAVE to pass by Buffalo Billiards. They have me on speed dial for action. We have had players from Atlanta, Mississippi,Texas, Oklahoma and other states that I don't know where the players are from; that I know of coming by to pick up their nut money. Last night the Lizard made off with 3200 American piasters. I don't know where he hails from but he picked up his expense money for the next month or so. New Orleans is back on the map. Action is concentrated in this one pool hall as the big Gulf Coast pool hall has been wiped out. Come pass a good time. New Orleans loves action and it is SO EASY. That's why the call the city The Big Easy. Come pick up your share. It is waiting for you.

You know how much money is being pumped into the local area what with insurance checks raining money on every resident and most of them think they can double their money at the casino or the local pool hall. Add in the thousands of construction workers and FEMA works and you have a city boiling with loose money. Come get ya some.

He's a TX boy... used to live in Dallas but now he's living in south TX and said he loves it down there.

Congrats on having the pool room to be at in your neighborhood Joey. I rememeber what it was like when people were coming from all over to my hometown... more action than you could shake a stick at and a railbirds dream!

Keep us posted on the happenings. :)

The new joint is always the action spot for a while-After a while, the newness wears off and players start returning to where they came from. This process is hastened if the owners start taking the business for granted and alienating the players. Doesn't always hold true but often enough.

The Pool Room in Marietta is second to none. The room is designed for players, not owners. Just a great place to play if you are in town. The staff is extremely friendly, a great group that makes you feel at home when coming into the room. It is my favorite place in the Southeast!!

I've had my share of rooms close on me, but that one hurt. I was there when it opened the first time, when it closed, when it re-opened and almost to the end. Having your favorite pool room close ranks right up there in life's AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH's with having your cue stolen and finding you have fallen in love with a closet Star Trek geek who is now out of the closet. Course it ranks behind coming home and catching your girlfriend in bed with your (supposedly) loyal dog.

I played a tournament here before the official opening...I think...

And my how time flies...when was that...1998??...2001??...the room wasn't much to look at...and I don't remember all the nice tables mentioned here...sheesh...must have been another place...so why do I remember a tournament with less than 10 players...and a while later a Tommy Kennedy tournament with maybe 25 people...I wasn't much impressed...

Anyway sounds nice now...and I drive by every day on my way to and from work...guess I'll have to check it out...

And I haven't been playing much...so be ready to give me a bit of an edge if you want a quick set or two...

I didn't forget about CAPONES, being a local you can't forget about Rodney. But I was posting in a time crunch and could not remember the link to the website. Does anyone know it? I tried to find it yesterday and could not.

No 1 in my book!

I would have to say "Skull Bone Tower Road Billiards" on rattlesnake ridge in southeastern kentucky. Turn right, past Bobbie Duncan's grocery and follow the chip and seal road all the way to mudcut. Make a right past the 55 Chevy on blocks and go about 1/2 mile and your there. Two regulation sized Irving Kaye bar boxes with softball sized cue balls. Coin mechanism has been removed, just holler "rackem snake" when you need a rack ! Recently recovered in 78. Space invaders, pong and the latest videos. Pickled eggs, bologna, sardines, pigs feet and moon pies. If you want something to wet your whistle just ask "brown bag" for a quart of their finest. House pro is "badeye" or "bug" Taylor, not sure which. All the three ball action you want . It don't get no better then this! Oh and by the way smoking and chewing is allowed.
