Great story, but here's a bit of advice I learned the hard way.

When you have an opportunity to acquire a classic, such as a classic muscle car ('68 R code FB Mustang!!!).........or a CUE.

Keep it to yourself until the deal is consumated or falls through.

There are many scumbags out there who will try to snake the deal out from under you.

Congrats on meeting an oldtimer who loved the game.

I had a similar thing happen to me! I'm a glazier that works out in the field. And one day, I went to a house that was going up for sale and happend to notice a beautiful GC foot sticking out from underneath a tarp. I asked about it and the realtor pulled off the tarp to show me this EMACULATE GC table! Then she said that they had to cut it up so they could get it out of the room. The new owners wanted it out of there. I, of course, offered to get it out of there for them. Long story short, my boss way overbid the job and I think upset the realtor which lost me the table! Ugh. but I was close. SOooooo close....... !!!

Funny story..........

When I was a glazier out in the field, I went to a house to bid a job. On the side of the house, outside, was a decent 8' Brunswick Anniversary table. I asked him what they were going to do with it. He said that the owner just wanted it gone. I offered to buy it from the GC and he could make a little cash. He laughed and said no way. They wanted to keep it around (OUTSIDE!!) during the remodel so they could play on it. It sat there for 5 or 6 months during the remodel. One day I drove by the house and it was gone. The GC was there so I stopped and asked him what the did with the table.

He said......"That old piece of crap??!?!?! We threw it in the dumpster!!!"

I just shook my head and walked away.

nah you don't have to do a bad job,......just leave a few tools behind as an easy way to have to "go back".....not that I ever did that....

Oh yeah, what city did you say you were from Gerry?

And just for the record, which is the biggest newspaper and could you provide me with a website for the newspaper? I just remembered I needed to place an ad for a ......four wheeler I'm trying to unload. :embarrassed2: :woot:
