I like Tiger Everest tips. So I bought a few on-line from a reputable dealer. Then, I purchased a few more on E-Bay.

Today, I was informed by my cue tip installer (the Best Man in the Business, Dan Gehrung) that a recent tip I mailed him for installation on a shaft was not a Tiger Everest.

I looked at my tip collection (eight total) and sure enough they're different (four are the same and four are different). Duh!

Now, I don't know which is which.

Note to self: When purchasing cue tips, keep tips and purchase information for future reference.

I have noticed that there are knock offs of almost all Tiger tips as well as fake Moori and Kamui being made in China It is really sad people push those fakes online.
 
Recently there've been a lot of fake tips, never thought they'd make it out of China...I've seen fake Moori, Kamui and G2. Honestly some are very difficult to tell the difference and they're even harder to tell apart once installed. We may end up saying XXX tip really sucks cos I played with my friend's cue yesterday...truth is it could've been a fake..
 
the tips with 2 or 3 small marks looks to be Chandivert tips to me . old stuff & good stuff . Such marks are very typical to the Chandivert products ...
Something like Crown , Eureka, Royal , Comprime , Rond tips ... The tips with 2 marks could be Crown, or Eureka ( but i ain't 100% sure) .Not champions, which are red backed.
since the Chandivert firm is down for a while, such tips aren't so easy to find, but it's possible.

Rain-Man's G2's

The best thing to do in this situation is to only order tips from Rain-Man. He will ship best tips (G2's) on the planet out same day. And they will never be knock-offs.

Not all Everests have the red layer. Typically, only the OEM Everest's sold to manufacturers come with the layer.

If you want to ensure you get the real thing, then I would only buy from a reputable retail source or directly from Tiger Products.
