No Jump Cues Hurt Some Players

Same luck happens with jump sticks ,, I highly doubt anyone watches pool because of its wow entertainment moments ,, if they do thier often left disappointed
I liken jump cue entertainment value to putting a earing on a pig with lipstick ,, simply does not change what it is

Yes, because of the highly complex nature of jump shots, sometimes the result is lucky rather than intentional.

I watch pool for wow moments and rarely am disappointed. Then again being an average player I understand and appreciate the tremendous skill being displayed.

Those of us who play decently appreciate jump shots and kicks and tough shots because we know they are tough.

Some of the members on this forum are simply not good players, at least by their comments they appear not to be, and so they perhaps don't appreciate or understand the finer points in pool. Maybe someday they will. At least I hope so.

Some people find excitement in watching grass grow ,, luckily I'm not one of them ,,what I find with these jump cues is how rediculasly easy it is to jump with them if you can't jump it's likely because of lack a coordination nothing else

Yes, it's ridiculously easy to jump with even the slightest amount of ability and physical dexterity, just as ridiculously easy to divide an angle and shoot in a straight line or add some side spin using a chalked tip.

Some people just don't understand the complexity required beyond simply making the cue ball jump. I feel sad for those people. They won't ever get to truly feel the excitement of a well made jump shot under pressure. Nor can they appreciate it when a professional player makes one.

I appreciate all well made shots and I suppose we have reached the point in this week's jump cue dance where we start to post videos.

First shot of this video, Mika plays a two rail kick and almost resafes Jayson.

Here Mika makes another 2 rail kick. But unlucky as it results in a wired 9 ball. If jump cues had been allowed Mika would still have had to kick.

Here Mika Jumps https://youtu.be/IY1yV8PEY6s?t=1006 No love.

Here Shane makes a 3 rail kick and gets a lucky to make the 7.

Shane measures up a kick shot.
https://youtu.be/IfwObO_M-Uw?t=4193

I guess Raj just sucks at kicking ;-)
https://youtu.be/IfwObO_M-Uw?t=5329

Here young player Oscar Dominguez almost kicks in the one - after measuring it up.

Here oscar plays a kick-bank safety attempt.

And we could go on. Lots of successful kicks, some failed ones, some brilliant ones, some lucky ones........

The answer is to learn to jump a ball with your playing cue. I only use a jump cue if there's a ball about a foot away. They're easier to jump with, but I think a good player should be able to jump a ball full cue. A little practice and anybody should be able to do it.

Best,
Mike

I watched the Little Ko vs Joey Cicero match. Little Ko missed 2 to 3 kicks in that match which he ended up losing.

A successful jump-started 3 or 4 rail kick, hit with your playing cue, is a beautiful thing to behold.:groucho:

I'm thinking JohnnyT could dig it.

Note: little harder on a Bar Box...full cue jumps need more landing runway///
