No More Complaining!!!

Steve,

You probably should have written the original post differently, in a manner where it wouldn't leave the the players identity open for conjecture. Everyone has read "He lives locally", "a 20 minute drive across town" and can easily see in the right hand corner of your post that you live in "Location: Columbus, Ohio". Since Cory moved to Fla. that only leaves 4 players "whose name would be easily recognized by all if mentioned" that you can possibly be talking about. As you know, I am very good friends with all of them. My whole point in posting is that most here can easily guess who three of the four are, the fourth would be recognizable but most wouldn't associate his name with Columbus. Peoples heads out there are spinning wondering who the player you are talking about is. Now, since you brought it to everyones attention, you may as well "out" whoever it is and save the other three from looking like greedy, pompous dirtbags! Piss one off and vindicate the three others.....

Kirk
Kirk,
First of all, i'm not exactly sure who you are, so I dont know that you're good friends with all of them. Second of all, I dont really care if everyone on here wants to know who it was, i'm not going to say anyone else's name on here. And as to your comment about everyone thinking that all of them would look like "greedy, pompous dirtbags!", anyone who would think that isnt too intelligent. Although i'm not "very good friends" with all of them like you, I do know them all, shoot with alot of them and have even backed a few of them. They are all good guys and dont deserve to have their names brought up on a public forum like this, but I do have the right to vent on here about that particular situaion. And from the looks of it, i'm not the only one who feels this way and has seen it happen. If it weren't for fans, there wouldn't be billiard tournaments for pro's, and they're complaining about the payouts for those. So when HE asked ME if I knew of any action he could get into and then pretty much laughs off $2000 that most of us have to work very hard for, that doesnt show much respect for the profession, nor does it help to validate their argument for tournaments not paying out enough or pool paying enough.

Wow, Columbus must be bigger than I'd imagined.

Kirk manages, or at least used to manage, Cornfed Red's.

What's even better than that Mike is that he used to work for me..... Left Cornfed's after my third tour of duty a little over three years ago. Three tours and five plus years in there. And people on here are still talking about Bill Brasky??? Chinese and one pocket next time your thru town???

I have had this same question posed to me before. Got the same response you did beav.

To me ACTION IS ACTION whether it is high or low. The way I look at it is if this player keeps waiting for the big scores they may never come. In the mean time his killer instinct deminishes along with the level of play that comes with being in action all the time.

Steve,

You used to work for me at Cornfed's.... My whole point is that if you had initially wrote the post a little differently then you wouldn't be singling out such a small group of players. All you had to do was leave out that he lives locally and the score is a 20 minute drive across town. You could have said something along the lines of "I was talking to a great player at a tournament and he asked..." "I told him that there is a guy in his own town, 20 minutes away from him". Under that premise, it could literally be any good player across the midwest or the country for that matter but the way it was originally written, it was specific to someone in Columbus and with the limited # of great players here that is a small group. I will take a few names out of the hat so that they are taken out of the probability pool- Bartram (you actually took his name out in a later post, plus Chris has already played him), it's definitely not Howard Vickery because Howards not out looking to bet near that high, and it's not Dee because Dee has already beat the guy. Those are the three I care about and don't want to see there names drug thru the mud or even speculated.... I'm right about those three, right? I'm not mad at you, not trying to punk you, I just don't want friends to be looked at in a bad light if they are not guilty of anything. That would only leave two others it could be. I will never in life post those names here but I will PM you the name of the guy that said it if it was actually said. Check your PM's and see if I am right. If I am, that guy has a very dry sense of humor and was f***ing with you! Most good players I have ever known have limits on what they will play for or feel comfortable playing for. Some won't play for less than a $100, $500, or $1,000. Some won't bet more than a $100. It's personal preference, not greed. When I still played, I personally never liked to play cheap because I had a hard time bearing down cheap. The higher I bet, the better I played. You can find people that beat me for $10 and $20's but there's not many who ever got there betting higher. I avoided playing cheap because I played bad when playing cheap and who wants to play bad? My point? Don't hate on a player because they won't play cheap, they have their reasons for doing so... But trust me, no good player out there nationwide that gambles is going to shrug off $2,000 action in their hometown even if they are looking to bet $20,000! None...

Kirk,
Nice to hear from ya, its been a few years. Congrats on getting married. I can understand where you're coming from and you'll never hear me complain about any of the players you mentioned, i play with and associate with them on a regular basis. You were right in your PM, he may have a dry sense of humor, but at the same time the only other reason he gave for passing it up was that someone at Cornfeds would knock his action. For a payday of that size, its worth the drive and risk of having his action knocked. Like I said in my previous post, I have appreciation for those players willing to grind it out and treat it like a real profession. Thats why i've always liked Chris alot and kept up with how he was doing on the road. He's taken some bad beats in big games, but he's always back out on the road looking to grind it out some more. It kind of comes down to if he didnt want the action, then he shouldnt have asked. You and I both know there aren't a whole lot of 5 digit gamblers here. LOL. Hope things keep going well for ya and I never took it as you were punking me. I figured it was you but wasnt going to say anything if i didn't know for sure.

He probably would get knocked... Trust me, he knows the guy will want to play him the same way he played Dee (or more, since Dee won) and he doesn't want any part of fading that action! I keep saying that I am going to come out of retirement to play "the guy" but this time of year it's real tough to get away from work and hit balls to get loose.
