I'm not sure if this has been discussed on here yet or not but...
I just talked with Tom Gearhart, one of the promoters of the Glass City Open, and they have decided to cancel the rest of the tournaments. He said he could not find a sponsor willing to put up the money needed.
Here's a portion of the e-mail:
We are shit-canning it this year. Although we made a small profit last year, we are still $11,000 losers. Sigh. It was a labor of love. We can't seem to find a sponsor that is willing to put up $25,000 to $30,000 and we can't do it out of our pockets anymore. Although we are packed every night and our prices to attend it are one of the higest in the country, the sad truth of the matter is that it takes more money to put it on than we take in.
It's really too bad we lost such a good event...
