After working more than 10 hours on the banners for the NATIONALS 2012 !, Kind of disappointed of not SEEING it (printed) at the EVENT.

What a waste of time !


I believe DIECKMAN WAS RIGHT .



Please don't ask me anymore for FREE ideas , I am gonna charge money from now on.... lollllll

DON"T get the big picture, well as we say in french DOMMAGE !

I have designed this banner for the nationals, I didn't print it.
The Board has a digital copy.
But as usual they were short handed ,since the president was working his ass off the nationals (vacuuming the tables and working 20 hours a day) the tournament Director Charlie Brown did a wonderful job , besides Paul Frankel you was exhausted after beating me(lolll) and Doug who helped a lot as well, ...

What happen to the rest of the board ! I Forget how many Director the USBA Have , 12? 11?


Probably it's my mistake , As a player I should have printed bunch of them , frame them and ship it to vegas.....

Yes, I think that would have worked. But I don't think you should frame them. It's better to put them on corefoam. If you want to carry through with this next time, I can tell you where all the Office Max's and Staple's are in the area where you can get corefoam. I doubt that your strategy this time will work next since as you noted, everyone is busy. Trying to make work for others often doesn't work.
 
Maybe it was not printed or use because you have KOZOOM on it!! Last minute change.

Maybe you can work with Paul Frankel for a 2013 CHAMPION OF CHAMPION Event Poster for 2013 SBE EVENT.

Both Poster designs was GREATZZZZZ.
 
Billiard shot , we have 2 versions of the design , one with the kozoom logo & 2 without !

I am trying to make a point here ....

Why should I print posters and take it on the plane to Vegas or ship it or whatever.


Why non of the 11 prophets call KINKOS or staples or any printing company , they can do it for free if they add their logo on the board?

Jimshovak asked me to update the list of players for the design couple of times, I changed it .

All the players got tagged on Facebook by the design and we receive 100 of compliments from all over the world ! Turky , Spain , France , Belgium, Korea,.......

That 's the big picture I m talking about !

Again nobody asked me to design it , I felt I can help , remember that I m not on the board , I quit 2 years ago ! I m not interested in more ,
But as an architect , I still charge $50 an hour for design ... Loll!

Steven , as you requested for the August international tour , I won't be able to make it .sorry !

Hi Gilbert,I thought you did a beautiful poster for the USBA Tournament in Vegas.I met you at KY. and enjoyed watching you play. I heard you beat my man CRAPPIE HAHAHA. Crappie I only hope you go to Carom Cafe in AUGUST. Eddie Friedman AKA FastEddieF.
 
Volunteering your time, art, ideas, donating money, expertise,...etc for a less known sport and / or a non- profit organization is not for the faint of heart.

For me...to remain healthy...I think about three things.

1. I am to expect no appreciation
2. Making myself happy...cause a least 1/2 the people won't like you...and frankly I may not particularly like them.
3. Get on the table and knock em around every chance you get cause that is why you volunteer.
 
The problem, as usual, is not enough "workers". It is unreasonable to expect 2-4 people to do EVERYTHING that is suggested.

It is also very easy for someone to make a "suggestion" who is not involved in the actual "work to be done". Something that a lot of people (on this forum) don't seem to understand.

Gilbert designed the poster. He is brilliant. Was there anyone "in charge" of making up copies of these posters and hanging them up at the Nationals? No there wasn't. And expecting the few "workers" that were working their asses off to do it is not reasonable.

If you want something done for the USBA, you have 2 workable options:

1) Make arrangements for someone to take care of it way ahead of time (if they are able)

2) Do it yourself.


If you come up with a suggestion or idea for the USBA and then expect someone else to just do it, then that is naive.

I prefer option # 1, but that is not always an option. That is why option # 2 is what usually occurs.

Tremendous work was performed by a few:

Andrew Janquitto: you outdid yourself. I don't know how you did it.

Paul Frankel: Unfortunately, I have come to expect nothing less than excellence from you.

Doug Deitel, Tony Ferrara, Charles Brown, etc: great work. Thank you. I have to admit that I enjoyed not doing all the work this time. I needed a break and you gave it to me.

I witnessed the hard work in vegas, It's unbelievable work again by Andrew , Charlie ,Paul, Doug !

Part of the fund should be going for people to vacuum the table and do the hard work ! DEPENDING on volunteers for this amazing sport is not ENOUGH.


Besides money ,

.We should be more professional about advertising our sport.

.We should be more professional about the consistency of game play (including tables , balls , ...)

.We should start to have CLOCK TIME (need more people)

.We should start hiring referee for final games

.We should do more exhibition tournament,

.We should do more Trick shot SHOW specially in VEGAS

.We should do live streaming .

.We should sell USBA vest & Shirts ( at the event) to add more money into the funds.

.We should have a clinic before or after every big tournament.

.We should have a powerpoint presentation for the history of our sports.

. We should have Facebook for USBA. will bring thousand of fan and new blood .




Please I am not criticizing nobody, I just feel that the above points need to be addressed during certain period of time,( i am sure we do have some of the points )

Let us assume every point needs a year! Why not ? after 10 years we accommodate important points,and our sport get better and better.


NEED PEOPLE AND MONEY !

But please be Professional ,and stop asking for Favors ,and don't give smart people stupid jobs, use their talent and their time.

Gibert, I agreed 100% what you are saying. So here is the deal. In my next tournament that i may do at the Allen Hopkins Expo, you and I can work on some of the concepts to do most of the things you just mentioned.

If you choose not to help then i will understand and just carry on what i can do myself and some help with others also.

OH GILBERT....u have created a brain fart in my pea brain....have 1 x 10 to the 10th power working on your thoughts.....je suis pense before I post which may take a millenium but ONE of the reasons I luv u is that u ask questions that I have never heard before...and thus have to answer them....wonderful thread and wait till u c wht i have to say when I am sober and can compose my thoughts.......:>}

Me: I thought you were being sarcastic...my bad...my mistake....and I apologize to Bob Jewett for thinking he didn't get the sarcasm...when there wasn't any to get.

I have never implied that you don't know what you are talking about.
