Norton Antivirus Safe Web browser tool has AZ marked as having a "Computer Threat". Does anyone else have this issue? I know there were some problems a little while ago, but I just noticed this...

Sorry if this isn't a problem...I'm a bit of a dummy when it comes to anti-virus stuff... :o

It seems there is a good deal of reports about this but do not know what to make of it. Some people say it is nothing and a false alarm so to speak.

I got 2 different reports basically, I really think its some sort of false alarm though.

Norton Antivirus is a virus IMO. I picked it up here from a link. It sucks removing it.

Same warning

Lenny-I had the same Norton warning yesterday.

Hopefully on a different topic-I had to replace the hard drive on my laptop last week. It had gotten slower and slower/programs unresponsive and such. They 'ghosted'??? the HD-which I guess means cloning the stuff off the old hard drive. So-I guess if I had problematic items on the old one-I have an fresh batch of the same bad items??

The shop did not have a high regard for Symantec/Norton in general. They recommended I google a norton removal tool to try to remove all traces in registry? and such.(I'm a computer moron). I also run Malwarbytes program.

Any consensus? Is this truly a low level threat that may be a false warning? Other opinions re Norton 360? Do you like something else to help avoid malicious download issues?

Thanks

I am using Microsoft Security Essentials on my laptop now and all seems well, I have AVG on my other laptop and my desktop has Avast. They are all free and do the trick for me. I use Malwarebytes too. So far so good but this site does get weird, sometimes taking quite a good deal of time to load up.

Nothing Here

When I booted up my laptop a few minutes ago and pulled up AZB, I didn't get any type of warning from my Norton.

Most people that know computers and the like hate Norton. It slows your machine and causes more problems that it solves. I use and love AVG Free AntiVirus.

Didn't see your post when I posted allmost word for word the first sentance.

I think Norton comes with Adobe updates?I am no computer expert but I help friends who are tech-challenged with thier computers. One thing I allways see is 15 differnet toolbars on the browser LOL and the little Norton pop-up window in the corner saying RENEW NOW or some such.

Norton really messed up with my stream viewing. I switched to ESET.

I think AZB pops up on NAV when someone starts another thread about saving pool.

ps...uninstall NAV and stop going to porn sites. :)

Yeah...that top one is the one I got...I just hadn't seen it until yesterday...

Thanks for the info Lenny...

I used to use Norton Anti-virus and it's free for Comcast customers, but it bogged my system down and after reading some test reports on free anti virus programs I removed the Norton program and I use Avast Free Anti Virus. I like the Avast program a lot better than Norton and it was rated number one out of the free programs by PC World when I switched to it. I don't think it's number one now, but i'm sticking with it. You have a couple of ads now and then, but I can live with that since it's fast, free, and a good program.

You make it sound like it's easy to get rid of that parasitic antivirus virus that is called Norton...lol.

It is a pain getting Norton off your system, but it was worth the trouble for me. That program bogged my system down and I got pop up messages to renew my subscription over and over (before Comcast included it for free with my internet account from them). I can get the full version of Norton for free now since I pay Comcast for my internet because they have a deal with Norton, but I hated the program so much that I use Avast free anti virus instead. Comcast used to supply McAffee for free before the deal with Norton and I didn't like it either (it really slowed my system down).

Check out Avast Free Anti Virus if you are having problems with your program.

You need to play closer attention - it may have been ranked number 1, but this was for FREE products, which BTW, don't hold a candle to real anti-virus products.
