Not another aiming technique????

Well, this isn't exactly another aiming technique. Rather, it is the geometric principle behinf matching up two spheres so that one always travels at a specific angle. I discovered it while in GTMO in Cuba, there were no real tables there to practice on so I was messing around with different concepts on paper.

I don't want to say developed because I'm sure that someone else has already discovered the same technique and I don't want to appear to be stealing it from someone else.

This is NOT an aiming system. This is an illustration of a geometric principle. It has and can be used to develop an aiming system and there are variations of the principle that may be easier for some shots or for some people.

For example, after you watch the video think about using the tangent line drawn back to where it meets the CB and you will see that the tangent line on the OB if drawn straight back to where it meets the CB will give you the correct contact point on the CB.

It is easier to see that the principle is accurate if you are watching the shadow of my shaft in relation to the ribbons. When I miss, you will see that the line that the shadow follows is slightly off of the ribbons line and when I make the ball, it is directly parallel to the ribbon's line.

Hope you enjoy,

Jaden.

It helps if I post the link to the vid.

 That's a good aiming technique. I first learned that from Robert Byrne's Standard of Pool and Billiards book. As always great job on the video!!

Thanks....

I have one of robert Byrne's books but that isn't one of them. I'll probably have to go out and buy it.

The best thing about knowing that concept isn't so you could use it on every shot.

I tried that in the first big tourney I played in after coming back from Cuba. I won my first match, but was so tired after that match that I lost pretty bad the second match, of course it didn't help that I was playing Santos Sambajon in that second match and I did still play well.

No, the best use for it is to isolate problems with your stroke.

If you KNOW that you are aiming correctly, then you also know that when you miss, there was something else going on. It helps you to figure out problems in your stroke and correct them more easily.

Dude, your videos make me feel like I am on acid. :-)

That;s because the only computer I have right now with firewire is a laptop that's about five years old and it drops a lot of frames....

I'll try to get a firewire card for one of my better computers tommorrow...

Lol - it's cool, kinda like watching the Matrix but with pool shots.

I know what you mean though - I have a pretty good older Sony video camera but it ONLY has a Firewire connection and I only have a laptop without Firewire and of course I also happen to have a slot for which the Firewire cards are rare or non-existent.

So for now I am stuck doing video with my point and shoot.
