Not Much Betting On A $100,000 match

Since you seem to be the bigtime pool room guru around here I don't dare get into any kind of argument with you. There will be zero follow-up writings here from me to you.....(I do know where the turnip truck parks)
So, I will just use your own words.
"It is a stupid thing to say, even in jest"......what you just posted.
Apparently you don't know as much as you think you know, in spite of books, articles, and a thousand years of experience, etc. etc.
ALL pool players will do business if things fall into place just right.
You just don't know it.

What about golfers, bowlers, dart players, or anybody else in any sport? Will they all do "business"? or you think just the pool players?

Some people spew nothing but pure garbage and have zero to add. That is most likely why you will have zero follow up, cause all you got is garbage.

Just curious why everybody thinks they should have a say in what these players play? If you don't want to watch, DON'T WATCH!

They agreed on a game and that's what they are playing, end of story.

If you don't want to watch all 4 days, DON'T. Pick a day and it's a race to 40 - basically(one player spotting the other whatever games they are ahead) which should make it even more exciting for you whiners.

Jesus, you have 2 of the best playing for 4 days and all you do is cry - and you wonder what is wrong with pool.

If you wanna watch crappy players, there's a bunch of videos on youtube.

Jason

I am with you. I tint care what they play for, etc. I have sat at Fargo Billiards and watched Shane practice the same shot over and over.

Don't really care, just love to watch great pool

From a gambling perspective I agree with you but from an entertainment perspective, I see it as some paying customers giving good feedback to all of the promoters on what they want to buy.

Even in jest that is a stupid thing to say. NEITHER of these guys will ever be involved in anything like that! They don't even like to make 'savers' in pool tournaments.

Jay it's not the players I'm worried about, its Frenchy, the guy has already done and said some very questionable things. I was walking with Oscar at derby and frenchy comes up to ask him how he did playing Erik in the action room, oscar told him that he won, frenchy then goes on to tell oscar how he bet $5k on the match, which is complete horseshit since he had to ask oscar who won 2 days after the match, oh and if he bet $5k, where is oscar's jelly roll? The guy is off the air a bit.

Since you're close to Dennis, maybe you could help me out with this...

I'd sooner become the Queen of England before anyone convinces me that DO puts
up $25K of his own money against the guy that has a history of Horse-F*cking him.

Could you somehow confirm whether or not Dennis is putting up $25K of his own money in this? There's a rumor that he is.
And if he tells you it's true...that, (to me) could be the "smoking gun" in this a false flag operation.

Do you own a business? Can you let us know how much you personally invest in it?

Come on it doesn't matter. I know Shane and I as a friend I would never ask him, if he did tell me I wouldn't tell anyone.

Now you're the expert on the morals of ALL pool players. Right?

Not gonna happen! :D

1. Mars never said he was staking this match, he only said there was going to be 100k in the middle.

2. Word from people at Derby, French and Dennis had a big falling out at Derby when French tricked Dennis into signing a contract giving himself (French) half of everything Dennis earns everywhere he plays including tournaments. He told Dennis it was just for video sales. Dennis had a friend look at it. Yeah that will hold up in court.

3. Word also says both player were supposed to get paid a sizeable appearance fee which French and Upstream were going to chop up from the stream and door sales.

4. SVB has reportedly told people he was staking himself.

I think Im going to sit this one out.

No way is Dennis giving up half his tournament winnings! That's how he supports his family.

I'd say you are correct in that almost everybody will do things you'd never believe in the right situation - monkey on their back, gambling habit, family to feed, self to feed etc. Doesn't matter who you are or how much or little money you come from.

Do I think that will be going on in this match? No. Not enough people to bet on Dennis lol.

Sorry Jay. But when Dennis was playing Justin in a tournament in the finals, Justin proposed a saver and Dennis agreed. I think Justin proposed that the total amount for 1st and 2nd gets split, but with the winner getting $500 extra. Dennis's only change was that he wanted the winner to get $1000 extra. Justin agreed and Justin ended-up winning.

Shane may never do savers, but Dennis certainly does.

Is your source reliable?
If that is true, then the wheels are falling off the French bandwagon

Didn't this thing all start with someone barking at someone else on FB? You mean to tell me you can't send a private message or text to set things up?
I don't buy it, I don't care who is involved, who's putting up the money, or who's reputation is sterling (to the public)
Pool players are treacherous.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was all a scam.
People are so gullible.

I agree Jay. I heard the same thing as RK about the contract. Even if Dennis signed it I doubt it would be enforceable since Dennis didn't know what he was signing.

Sounds like Dennis could really use a trusted friend right about now Jay. I hope you guys are still in touch.

The amount of money in the middle matters. If it didn't matter, then why are they selling it as $100K? If they're "only" playing for $40K or $60K or whatever, then why not just say that? If this is the case and "they're" not telling people and want them to think is for $100K then it's reasonable to ask the question what we're being sold.

I'll watch whether they're playing for $100K or a piece of bubble yum. They hate each other and should be some great pool. But doesn't change the fact if that they're hiding the real amount, then they think there is something to be gained by doing so. And, as the consumers I think we shouldn't be lied to.

Edit to say... I don't believe we're being lied to. Just to go with conversation that it doesn't matter what's in the middle.

Yes, the amount matters when they're selling it as part of the product.

People can probably get more action on whether the full amount gets paid than they can on who wins.

Jay,

Just so I understand your response, are you saying that Dennis putting up $25k of his own money is not gonna happen or are you saying that you asking Dennis about it is not gonna happen?

Gideon

The former

If you would watch it anyway, what does it matter?
What product are you buying the $100,000 or them playing each other? I would consider it a lie when I purchased the PPV and it wasn't them playing.

The match is off! I won't go into the details here but as I suspected it's not happening.
P.S. Dennis got 100% of his prize money!
